La Scala in Commack is the BEST on Long Island. And I'm saying that even tho I lived 50 feet from Umberto's in New Hyde Park.

Why just Nassau? Suffolk cty has great pizzerias too... Uncle joes, coloseo, villa grazia, café amici. Come on man!!

Not bad although she should have said Best Pizza in New Hyde Park/Garden City or Nassau County as there are PLENTY of great pizzerias where I grew up in Suffolk County (Babylon) as well as in other parts of Nassau County. The original Umbertos is on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont/Franklin Square. The one she reviews in New Hyde Park as well as the Umbertos in Merrick are satellite locations.

My favorite classic NY Slice in NYC is Amore Pizza in Flushing. There pizza is amazing. There's always lines to get the pizza so the pizza is always fresh. Yeah but the only Umbertos that makes the top 4 pizzas every year is the one in New Hyde Park and Wantagh

Actually the Original Umbertos is on Jericho Tpk in NHP. "King Umbertos" on Hemp Tpk/Mechum Ave. in Elmont/Franklin Square, opened about 10 years later and have no relationship between each other. I grew up in Floral Park, in the middle, within a mile of each. In the middle 70's "King Umbertos" was known as a "knock off" of the "Real" Umbertos.
