Wasn't a Rico early adopter but have watched many recently. Appreciate Evan's level-headedness. Iglesias was a great 2024 story but it's naturally a fleeting dynamic. As pointed out, there are 2 batter slots remaining absent a trade and one is reserved for Alonso or other bat with at least proven marginal power and the other left available for prospect auditions or spring training surprise bat. Leaving no option to sprinkle in these types without an injury designation elsewhere makes little sense.

I would be VERY sad to see Iglesias go...His consistency, BA (.337) and leadership will be sorely missed + he is the creator of the OMG movement and ethos which carried the METS in 2024 after their horrible self-defeating first 55 Games...METS might lose some important clubhouse vibe w/o Iglesias

Iglesias doesnt fit bc he played well last year and deserves a ML deal. The Mets have multiple middle infielders in the system and you need someone that you can send down. Iglesias is gonna want a ML deal plus possibly everyday job. It just doesn't fit the puzzle unless they traded McNeil
