Sound recording of instruments... Excellent. Choice of mouthpieces... excellent. My favourite.... That's for me to know but I'll say being familiar with 3 (and they're all terrific)... It is surprising how well the BSS peice plays.. (OPPS)

In many ways, the Morgan might actually come closest to my vintage Meyer New York. The Morgan plays kind of like my vintage, but turned up to 12.

Ah very nice! I have been playing a Meyer 6 medium chamber for 49 years. I have other mouth pieces I use them . But I always come back to that Meyer I have 2 NY Meyers. And also have a 2 Selmer *c for classical playing... these two are my base set up. But again like I mentioned I have Otto Link both hard rubber and metal tone edge. Vandoren , Bobby Dukoff ,Berg Larsen, Beachler,, and A set of HR Joddy Jazz 7 on alto and 8 tenor. theseI also like. They feel the closest to the Meyer.... thank you for posting the video!

Hey Andre, I think they all sound good. I was surprised though that the M-Series and the NY Bros 2 just didn't draw me in w/ their sound...but I don't think it's a good idea to come to a full conclusion about any mouthpiece from one video/play test. I play a Morgan NY so I was interested to see your take on it but guess what - you didn't even mention it once! Too bad...I thought it sounded really good though! Could you do a standalone video comparing the Morgan Jazz M vs. the Morgan Jazz NY at some point w/ your thoughts on them? That could be helpful 😊
@AcevedoDMA Жыл бұрын
I definitely forgot to comment on the video. I did write some in the video description. I would say it was one of the closest in sound to my vintage, but it was also quite a bit louder and I had to control it a bit more to make it not overly bright. The sound when playing softly on it was quite excellent. Unfortunately I likely won’t have both mouthpieces together for a while. As soon as I get my Jazz M I am going to send it to Brian or Erik to get the chamber opened up.

@@AcevedoDMA Ok, interesting...I'm thinking of getting another Morgan but I can't decide between the M and NY. I got mine off eBay and it was opened up from a 4 to a 5 by Keith Bradbury AKA "Mojo". He applied a slightly longer facing curve as well. My piece just doesn't seem to play as bright so I'm wondering how different a stock NY 6 would sound. See what I mean?
@AcevedoDMA Жыл бұрын
@@ChipTheMusicMan I can tell you the M is quite a bit brighter than the NY. Your mouthpiece was opened up and had interior work. So it likely plays quite different than a standard. I would say the M chamber is bright where it almost gets into the pop/rock realm. The New York seems to be made to be able to produce volume and brightness when needed, but not automatically bright. The baffle felt like an engine of a powerful car that could be called upon at will.

Hey man, which of your mouthpieces (both from part 1 and part 2) you think that don't need to be refaced or changed (baffle,chamber), you haven't refaced, and play "perfectly" just out of the box??
@AcevedoDMA4 ай бұрын
Hey Pedro, thanks for the question! First off, you need to separate these into two categories, boutique and mass production. The boutique cost a lot more and are basically meant to come out of the box perfect. The Matt Marantz, Gerber, and Morgan are great examples of this. The mouthpieces under $200 are mass produced and usually need a reface to play as well as the boutique mouthpieces. I am really sad about the Meyer Connoisseur. It is priced boutique but needs refacing. If you search online, this is reported heavily. The mass produced work fine, but the reface makes them perform much better. Nowadays I am playing the D’addario select jazz. That one does everything I want and it is stock out of the box. I have since sold almost every mouthpiece performed on in these videos. I would say to just get a D’addario select jazz. Save yourself the time, money, and heartache and just get that. And get the marbled one, in particular!
@pedrodavidrodrigues19594 ай бұрын
@@AcevedoDMA , I heard that the daddario select jazz is very consistent and plays great out of the box!! But I'm afraid they might sound to much on the dark side! If I can ask, why do you think its better to buy the marble finish one? I really wants to try the new Selmer jazz flow mouthpiece! Have you tried? What do you know about this one?
@AcevedoDMA4 ай бұрын
@@pedrodavidrodrigues1959, the marble finish has a little different sound. It is something that I like, and the responsiveness is a little better. Yes, these can be dark pieces, but get very bright when pushed. What it gives me is a lot of control I have been looking for! I have not tried the Jazz Floe yet, sadly, but am really looking forward to it!

This one really does sound good! I think it was just too powerful and robust for me. I had to tame it a bit. Definitely a really good mouthpiece, though!

You sound good on all of them but like others I liked your sound on the Morgan the most.... however, I could be biased....😊
@AcevedoDMA Жыл бұрын
I think I want to order something custom soon. A little bit larger than the NY chamber. Maybe a little less baffle, too. I agree it has the best sound of the modern pieces but it was harder to control. I seem to like large chambers, I think.

Hi. I would like your opinion. I've been playing with a Jody Jazz HR mouthpiece for years and I'm thinking of switching to a Theo Wanne New York Bros. In your opinion which one is the best?
@AcevedoDMA Жыл бұрын
I am familiar with both mouthpieces. I have a lot of students that play the Jody Jazz HR and love it. They sound good. The Theo Wanne New York Bros definitely sounded good but I don’t know as many people that play one of those. I think it’s competition at its price point is much harder than the HR star. Overall, it depends on what you are going for. Hopefully this video helps you determine if that is the sound that you are going for!

Connoisseur! However since you had it worked on by two different people, it is not what came in the box. I would recommend having SYOS make you a custom mouthpiece. Check them out-you will save a lot money and be 100% satisfied or you get all your money back!
@AcevedoDMA Жыл бұрын
I prefer to play hard rubber mouthpieces. I have also heard about examples of SYOS needing a ton of refacing work. If SYOS did come out with a New York mouthpiece I would happily do a video comparison so people can listen to differences in sound.
