Hahaha. Honestly I needed a support group for this film and hit the internet. I mean I don't think there was ever a worse made film and I need to know how this got released. Your review helped me though.

How this film was lost and restored and put back together like a difficult puzzle. Yes the movie had its flaws but it was definitely fun and goofy but fascinating. New York City back in the early 80s .. such a contrast from today, perhaps. Thanks for turner classic movies (tcm) for presenting movies like these. It makes me wonder how the star and director feels about this version of his film.

Hoping to pick this one up on my next VS order. Just picked up Ebola Syndrome so I gotta wait a bit. This looks awesome man. Right up my alley

It’s a great package, but Ebola syndrome is something really unique. I hope you like it. It seems to divide it’s audience. I look at it as an extreme comedy.

I think this might actually be my release of the year just for the amount of work that they put into it. Never seen anything like it before! Not a great movie but crazy fun

It’s interesting how this movies unique backstory on how it was made influences our opinions on how we respond to the actual film itself. I’m definitely a sucker for an underdog story where our poor little movie triumphs over adversity and against all odds it is rescued from the brink of oblivion & like a low budget Phoenix it has risen from the ashes and ascended to glories of being restored in such an unparalleled fashion. I’ve just finished watching NYN & I’m not sure if I enjoyed the film or feel sorry for it? It is a marvel at what Vinegar Syndrome have accomplished but I’m still confused if my admiration for the miraculous resurrection of NYN means that I enjoyed it or am being overly generous and feel compelled to feel pity instead of being critical and gush favourably over it’s obvious shortcomings!?!? Hey Graham a couple of weeks ago you raised the question if the golden age of the Boutique was over? and where would the Labels turn to next for ‘content’? Maybe doing a Lazarus number on long dead and stillborn projects is a potential untapped market……….? Am I being cynical or half joking? It is uncommon but there are plenty of unfinished films, some stalled in post production, never distributed, some run out of money, or some languish in a limbo of licensing or copyright problems, some just sitting in film can with no sound track or scripts. Actually, I’m being a little facetious, I did in fact enjoy NYN. I thought it was sweetly naive and it’s heart was definitely I the right place. The ‘tough’ New York gangs made me chuckle, Poundland Warriors and wanderers, punks with a costume budget of $5. I’m probably just a little uncomfortable talking about enjoying NYN without sounding like I’m a patronising movie snob. The location shots of New York around 1984 , with the Twin Towers & The Statue of Liberty under scaffolding give me a nostalgia burst reminding me of ‘Brewsters Millions’ and the far more appropriate ‘Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous’. NYN is best viewed as a live action cartoon. I loved the villain “The Plutonium Killer’, he was so fun and silly. The wonky choreography and weird action dust that our hero kept using was hilarious and cheesy. I do wish I could watch the film in a cinema with like minded film fans. It really would be enhanced by that kind of interactive communal experience.

You have to love this film not only for the outlandishness of the new plot/story they had to shoehorn into the film they had to the bad acting and just all the bets bits of the original video they had. It's stupid but my god is it a lot of fun and it's pretty non stop

I watched this a few weeks ago, it was very entertaining, made no sense and was very funny, it reminded me of The Miami Connection. They did a good job of restoring an unfinished film. I would definitely watch this several times a year.

Can anything be more Cannon films 🎥 than this masterpiece. Supprized Golan and Globus didn't buy this and finish it back then but maybe it's better they waited until 2021 to overdub it.
@manvfilm Жыл бұрын
I think the sun really helps the film, but it is completely a canon film.
