The thing that made this NYR squad special and you hate to loose some of these players during the off season in the free agent market or due to the salary cap, but that's business. I've been a Blueshirts fan since 1976. So many so called NYR fans didn't want to resign #20 a few years back. I always felt that Chris Kreider would live up to be one of the best power forwards in the NHL. Because he knows how much Mika wanted this, and feels like he let him down in a way. Kreids views Mika as a leader, and Mika views Kreids as a leader. It is a special bond that you hardly see anymore. Makes sense why Kreider doesn't have the C, because he believes in all his heart that Mika is just as much of a leader as him. It is heartbreaking to see him holding back tears like this, but this run was more than enough. He should not feel any disappointment from this playoff run.

You can see the pain and disappointment in his eyes and hear it in his voice. Hockey players are a special breed. The game of Hockey is like no other…That being said this team is close. I think the D is set. This team needs a guy that can win a draw desperately. They have to get better 5 on 5. That needs to be addressed. I have a lot of faith in Dru to get it done. I hope they can sign Copper and Frank, Buh-Bye Strome. I have to be honest…I didn’t think this team was built for the playoffs. They proved me wrong. I think Kappo is a huge bust…I know he’s young and needs time but there are things I look for in a hockey player. I don’t see it in him…He’s timid.
@aryusure19432 жыл бұрын
@John from Jersey "Timid" is exactly what I see when I watch Kakko. Someone missed something important when he was evaluated. The guy gives up pretty easily on 50-50 puck battles and many times he does not even engage in the battle and fly by. Now I'm curious to see if Chytil finally got out of his shell because he was like that most of the time until this year playoffs. Hopefully it won't be just a fluke because he has a lot of talent. Lafrenière needs to take the next step and be more "selfish" next year when he has chances to score. But he's not shy like Kakko and he seems to progress faster. And we should not forget Kravtsov who already gave signs that he wants to play in the NHL and who is not shy to let the brass know that he is ready. And what about Nills Lundqvist and Zac Jones, to name some of the other talented prospects. The Rangers are loaded. If they make the right moves this summer they can go for the big trophy next year. But 2024 sounds like a nice round number too. 30 years after the last one. I like intangibles. ;)

You think Kappo is going to be a stud or a bust?
@aryusure19432 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealJohnJ10 Like you said his "timidity" is obvious. And if we see it the coaching staff sees it too and I was not surprised let alone shocked that he was scratched for the last game whatever the reason Gallant gave yesterday. Because he won't tell the real reason which is OK because he needs to protect his players. In fact I was kind of happy because Kappo needs a waking call badly at this point of his career. He had a few (very few) moments of brilliance since he arrived and I think we will know next year if he has it in him or not. The talent is there but the grit is not...so far. In fact he is shy and seems scared at times when confronted by opponent players. And talent is not enough in the NHL nor in any pro sporst for that matter. Ask me the same question after next season. I have been patient but the "bust" conclusion is a strong possibility. I'm not there yet though.

We will need room for at least Blais and Cuylle and maybe Othmann and Kravtzov. On D maybe Robertson will replace Braun. I hope we can get rid of Nemeth and Hunt. Need cheaper version of Georgiev. Would like to replace Strome with Schifle. Keep Copp if possible hopefully we can keep Frank the Tank. Motte probably too expensive. @james sollazzo I'm in the same predicament and even in 1994 they almost dropped the puck. I'M a Rangers fan since 1974 but I have made peace with the fact that they will never catch the Canadians in my lifetime as Cups are concerned. When I was a kid I was too naïve to know better and I thought that they would win every year. I really thought that they could catch Montreal one day. I would be happy with at least one more though. On the bright side, except for a few years here and there (1998-2004 for example) since then, this team has always gave a good show and a number of exciting players have worn the Blueshirt over the years. And I'm sure that they are over .500 during my tenure as a fan but I have to check. But Cups? Well, they are few and far between for sure. But this time it seems we are closer to the next championship than we ever were since 1994.

They have all the necessary ingredients i.e. a great goalie, a top 3 defenseman (the next Brian Leetch) in Adam Fox, a top ten scorer in Panarin, two pure goal scorers (Kreider and Zibanejad), etc. etc. And the power of attraction that no other team in the NHL has which is very important when they need to find the missing pieces on the market.
