Rangers fan here. I think picking a favorite this year is foolish. There are a good 8+ teams that are all right there and any one of which could win without it being a surprise. Rangers certainly could win, but so too could the panthers, canes, avs, stars, oilers, canucks, etc.

The Rangers should have beat Tampa 2 years ago the refs really screwed up the last 4 games in that series. After totally outplaying them the Rangers stll played well in the games they lost but Tampa decided they couldn't just play hockey and win they were vastly outplayed in the first 2 games. Then Tampa decided that they were going to clutch and grab, cheapshot, hold and interfere and the refs swallowed their whistles and Tampa got into the series. If you are a Tampa fan (I actually like their team) and what happened to the Rangers happened to your team you would be just as pissed off as I was.

Susceptible to teams like Carolina and Boston? We went 5-1 against those 2 this year. Obviously playoffs are different but the Rangers have held their own against the other top teams in the league. I don’t get the obsession with Carolina. They’ve been chasing us since before Halloween. Why do they get their roses but the Rangers don’t get theirs?

@@criddlexd Absolutely. Same can be said about a lot of teams. If not all teams. If their best players don’t show up in the playoffs, they likely aren’t winning. That said, one thing working in their favor is that Igor is the type of goalie who can steal a series alone even in the event that the forwards don’t show. If they do and he is locked in, will be tough out. Playoffs always a dice roll.

This team is very different. An all time great coach (on his way to winning his 3rd Presidents with his 3rd different team), multiple players that can step up, a grade A forecheck, one of the best goalie tandems in the league with Shesterkin and Quick, Panarin is on an absolute tear... and they are motivated. I'm hyped to see how the playoffs go. But yeah, my expectations ARE really high for this team because anything less than the Cup is a failure after this great of a season, but I definitely have my fingers crossed.

I can't think of any game that was big that their offense looked good in the Rangers always keep them to the perimeter and can skate with them too. Face it the Rangers know how to beat that team in fact I would say they have their number. Yes I am aware of their regular season sweep a couple of years ago but the Rangers shut them down and beat them in the playoffs with a worse coach and system.
