Nice video, I never knew about the Rockaway Valley Railroad. You might be able to see more remnates during the winter months without all the green undergrowth.

Yeah, I showed as best I could with springtime foliage! That being said though, there are a couple more small remnants (bridge abutments, mostly), but I didn't feel like wasting my time schlepping out there to see them, so I just showed the (somewhat) easily-accessible ones.

It's cool to see the history of these long-forgotten short lines like this! Thanks for the vid!

almost impressed with the gall of the guy that was like "i'm not an engineer or anything but yeah i can just build you a rail line yeah sure"
@honajtransit6 ай бұрын
it would be significantly more impressive if, you know, the line he built wasn't a death trap!

This was very interesting! I love abandoned things like this, especially railroads and Trains! Too bad you couldn't explore the tunnels, but if they've collapsed they're probably not safe to explore! Really enjoy your historical comments too!

yeah, i was shocked that the tunnel even existed, but it was pretty obviously collapsed so i didn't want to venture in. thanks for the compliments!

Enjoyed the video and learned a lot. I like your rain gear. Without it you probably would be soaked.

Sorry to get caught by a minor detail but...peaches? in New Jersey? I usually think of peaches as coming from warmer climates.
@honajtransit6 ай бұрын
I was surprised by that as well, but indeed, peaches!

The train looks like the MBTA commuter rail just smaller!
@honajtransit6 ай бұрын
why do you say that? I know the T is far from good, but last I checked, it’s not constantly derailing nor sinking into swamps!

I mean the The actual train itself not where it runs through

Between this and Action Park up in Vernon, North Jersey is an unfortunate magnet for incompetent engineering, isn't it?
