It doesn't say anything about 11:58 ... this is crazy
@J-tu2pb9 ай бұрын
11:58 for a mile and a half isn’t that crazy. Basically a 7:20 minute mile pace to get to 11:00 for the mile and a half which isn’t that crazy. Even if you are out of shape and can’t do it just start jogging 4-5 times a week and keep at it.
@pizzaparty-r1c8 ай бұрын
@@J-tu2pb No. 11:58 is crazy. You literally have to run every day to maintain such a pace. This is a full out fuking sprint, not a run.
@J-tu2pb8 ай бұрын
@@pizzaparty-r1c well there is really no other way to put it other than that is the requirement that they have and we must pass it if we want to become troopers. If you don’t run every day I would start running every day because in the academy they run every day and at the end they want you to be at 70% of the cooper standards which is a mile and a half in 10:58 for males ages 20-29.

@@Htxracing97 seems a bit extreme to me. They have 11:58 to complete a mile and a half. I mean they aren’t training to become Olympic runners, they signed up to be police officers. I get that you should be in shape, but give me a break with that run time. Has to be completed way too fast.

Such an unfair test. Someone with low body weight will run faster. Someone that is tall (long legs = long strides) will run faster. I got lapped by a skinny guy that could barely do 10 pushups. I did 50 pushups and 45 situps. I could man handle most cops. The run test is moot. Fights don't last more than 60 seconds.

@2deboss Either way, I believe you will feel accomplished no matter the result. What truly wrecked my cardio was the drag and carry, a sled pull activity with variants in there. I won't lie. On the 2nd lap of the mile, I almost self selected and quit. I wouldn't have ever forgiven myself, so I pushed on. You learn a lot, see the competition, and realize that the markers that are set for us are the MINIMUM standard. Long slow jogs like 3miles plus, strategic HIIT, solid core elements of strength training, and some good hiking and stretching will get you ready for it all.
@MaskOfCinder2 ай бұрын
I just passed my test under 15 minutes for 1.5 miles. You have to practice outside on some type of trail or path outside, preferably one with a slight hill at some point. I practiced on a circular walking trail that had a hill. Measure the distance with a smart watch and keep running that track until you can do 1.5 miles in 15 minutes. Train for speed one day and train for endurance the other day. Speed training you should be doing laps as fast as you can without stopping. For endurance you should run at a slower pace but longer than 1.5 miles. Both of those exercises will increase your speed when doing the actual test.
