Gleyber continues to shine in leadoff and actually his overall production the last 3 months has increased. July .250/.330/.375. Aug .276/.363/.357. Sept so far .325/.380/.434. I understand completely that he's been an headache especially with his defensive lapses, but he deserves a lot of credit for how he's picked it up. This will be final season in Pinstripes and let's hope he can leave a lasting impression helping us finally getting to #28.

Sucks that it took a trade for Chisholm for Torres to realize his time was running thin. I don't mind Chisholm and his base running and defense is certainly better, but offensively I don't think he has the potential that Torres does

We went to this game last night traveled up from Orange County to Oakland. It was sad to see one of the last Yankee games there ever. It was a nice ending to celebrate the fans last night with fireworks and a drone show. Go Yankees

Rodon with yet again another solid outing. Actually 5 of his last 6 outings combined 29.1IP 21H 7R 7BB 34K. That BB/K ratio is absolutely insane. I understand the quality of teams he faced, but you play who ever is on the schedule. Coming into this season it was a lot of pressure on him and I give him credit. He's had a better season than I anticipated and I'm happy for him. He's pitching well at the right time of the season.

Can someone explain the whole “magic number” to me. In all my years I’ve never understood how that works.

The amont of games that need to be won to ensure the spot. So if you win and the team behind you loses, your magic number drops by 2. So it takes into account the number of games left and how many games separate the teams behind them. because there aren't enough games left for the team behind you to catch up, each game played is going to make the number change

The Yanks magic number is now 3. So any combination of Yankees wins or Baltimore losses totaling 3 and it's a wrap. Hope that's somewhat clear.

Here is a simple formula to help. 163 - (playoff team's win total + trailing team's loss total) = magic number. So for the Yankees with the current AL East standings... 163 - (91 + 69) 163 - 160 = 3
