I’m thrilled with how much you’re enjoying the moment you’re in and how you’ll embrace the beauty in it. Some of the natives don’t seem to understand me when I go on about how gorgeous it is to live here. They all seem to desire some nightclub scenes they’re imagining in Los Angeles, or something. Somehow they just take it for granted that they have so many trees, mountains, rivers, wildlife and such. It boggles my mind that they can’t seem to get as excited about it as I do. Some mornings on my way to work I’m overjoyed just looking out the windshield of my pickup truck. I’m so happy to be here I think it kinda makes the others silently sick of me. lol. Oregon has some stunningly beautiful forests, but after you've seen the California Redwoods it doesn't quite hit you in the same way. But the Oregon coast is breathtaking. It's actually a bit ironic that you're loving the Oregon scenery so much. I remember watching fantasy movies as a kid with the family, and every time they showed a beautiful forest scene, we would always say, "looks like Oregon!" Then we would check the ending credits, and it would usually say, "filmed in New Zealand." (and this was decades before Lord of the Rings) Eventually we started saying, "looks like Oregon! Must be New Zealand." And we were right more often than not.

@ClaireOSullivanAuthor I have heard of such stories with moose, as well.😄 I follow a chimpanzee sanctuary in Washington, and they had an elk who attached herself to their land. Whenever they did a perimeter walk or Patrol with the dominant female chimp, Ellie would attach herself to the group and walk with them. She occasionally partook of anything they gave the four rescued cattle that they had, as well as the grass or the fruit trees. The directors live on site, and they started to think they needed to rehome her when her face occasionally popped up in the window. 😆 they tried to locate her with a local heard, but she didn't want to be a part of that group. She found her way back, and then she started trying to open doors!😄 They wound up doing some work with d e m to locate her to a local zoo, where she is part of a small group and seems to be happy

IKR?! first folds outside of the US and the majority of the states - hardly anyone pronounces it correctly. I applaud them for doing so!

I’ve lived in Oregon for most of my life and in my opinion it’s the best and most beautiful state in these United States. Crater lake, beautiful beaches, Columbia river gorge and so much more.

The drive up the coast, or down, from Northern California to to Northern Washington is the most beautiful drive in the world. At least in my opinion, and I've been lots of places.

Welcome to Oregon. My home state. I loved when I visit my home town, and the old hospital where I was born. There are usually deer grazing on the lawn.

THANK YOU! The past few months have been so stressful politically here. Watching the view of our country through your families’ eyes has really helped me through it! A wonderful reminder of what we’re fighting for and how lucky we are to have been born here, or have come to live here! 😍

The beaches in the Olympic Peninsula Washington, are great for finding interesting shells. The forest there is lush, dense, and if you steer into the national park, you'll find water as blue as the sky. It's gorgeous taking that route up through the west coast. Praying for your safety along the roads.

My family lives in Florence OR. I love driving down to visit them. There is a rest stop I enjoy stopping at about 45 minutes after the landscape transitions from fields to forests. The air smells SO GOOD there and just gets better the closer you get to the ocean.

Rockaway Beach is a little slice of Paradise our family loves to visit in Oregon. Just spent some time around Wallowa Lake which is more eastern, but incredible small towns. Your trip is wonderful to watch.

Rockaway is nice. My favorites on the north coast have always been Cannon Beach and Manzanita.

We used to go to Rockaway every year. It was my job to drive down to Garibaldi and buy a cooler full of fresh oysters and we would grill them on our hotel balcony. (Surfside Inn) Then we'd go down to Tillamook and eat ice cream and free cheese. The kids are grown, the grandparents are in heaven, I moved 8,000 miles away, but we have the memories.

That was a good ole C-130, 4-Propeller Cargo plane, that I have worked on for the past 17 years, I know that silhouette anywhere. Without major detail, they are doing low levels over the terrain, which make most people sick that are riding in the back but amazing views. Almost like they were waving at ya'll doing their banked turn, crazy feeling when you're riding in one.

Welcome to Oregon. - here are 10 things to do: 1) Giant Obsidian Flow - Paulina Peak near Bend - walk through 6 foot high blocks of volcanic glass - nowhere but Oregon 2) Tillamook Creamery - on the coast - great fresh ice cream and "squeaky cheese" 3) Crater Lake - Southern Oregon - formed almost 8,000 years ago when an enormous volcano exploded. 4) Haystack Rock (at low tide) - Seaside - see Starfish, Puffins, Eagles (maybe), and if you are really lucky Nudibranch (sea slugs - they are gorgeous) 5) Silver Falls - in Silverton (east of Salem) - a gorge with 10 waterfalls, several you can walk behind 6) Portland (of course) - Powell's Bookstore is the largest bookstore in the USA, maybe the world. Also Voodoo Donuts and the Keep Portland Weird sign. 7) The Columbia Gorge - Vista House and the waterfalls - there are 80 named waterfalls, 12 are easy to reach and Multnomah Falls is a must. 8) Go to visit a Winery - there are over 200 of them in the Willamette Valley. 9) Timberline on Mt Hood.- 90 year old ski lodge, has snow 365 days of the year and year round skiing. 10) Gravity Falls - it is here somewhere - ask Dipper or Mabel.

We call them sea stacks, with one of the more famous ones being Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach. You can spot it when watching the beach race scene in "The Goonies". It's also one of the tallest sea stacks on the Pacific coastline.

I follow a chimpanzee sanctuary in WA, and they had a lone female who attached herself to their land. She used to accompany them on walks when they walked the perimeter of the two and a half acre enclosure with the dominant female several times a day, (because she likes company on her patrols). The elk would just follow along with them. So they called her Ellie. Eventually, they had to relocate her. The directors live on the premises, and sometimes her face would just appear in the window! 😅Then she started trying to open doors, and they knew it was time. 😅DEM tried to relocate her with a herd but it didn't take. So she went to a local zoo and is in a small group and happy

In downtown Portland, "Powell's Books" is mandatory for bibliophiles. It's truly fantastic! (I think it's the second largest independent bookstore in the US, only beaten by "Strand's in NYC).
