I don't know who is helping to produce and edit these videos for you guys but whoever it is deserves a raise. It's TV show quality. Also, even before you went into the chuck e cheeze i knew the food quality was going to be low and the price high for precisely the reason that the mrs. stated, namely, the marketing hype and environment. it's a specialty store just for kids so you can expect that where supply is low equilibrium price is high.

I totally agree. Chunky Cheese is for entertainment and for kids to play. It cannot be compared to to eateries such as Terry Black and other food places. The food is not the major attraction, the games are. Hope you are enjoying your trip so far

Chuck E Cheese is weirdly important to the entire history of video games. The founder of Chuck E. Cheese is Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari. Bushnell created Chuck E. Cheese as a way to open up the world of video games to children, by stocking it with Atari's arcade games. Before that, arcade games were frequently in venues that weren't friendly to children, like bars and pool halls. Bushnell is considered one of the Founding Fathers of the game industry, and his work with Atari and Chuck E. Cheese both expanded games to be more easily accessible to kids, AND to get games into homes on home systems, rather than them being exclusive to arcades. Chuck E. Cheese is also the inspiration for Five Nights At Freddy's, Willy's Wonderland, and a bunch of other nightmare animatronic themed stuff.

There was a time back in the 90s when Chuck-E-Cheese was more of a 50-50 playground/arcade for kids, but now it's mostly arcade. This might be due to liability risks in case a kid were to get injured on the playground, but that's just my speculation. However, as you saw, there are a few arcade games that do involve physical activity. Dip-N-Dots ice cream is actually frozen with liquid nitrogen when made, so it feels even colder than regular ice cream. Overall, going to Chuck-E-Cheese for the food is about like going to Disney World just to see the fireworks; it's not the main attraction.

Chuck E. Cheese first started in the late 1970s and was big for awhile, mainly for kids birthday parties. They used to have an animatronic band that played and sang songs in their stores, but after going through a few bankruptcies most of the animatronics were remove from the locations that survive today from the bankruptcy reorganization. They never were known for their food.

We would have Skee-Ball competitions among the adults, and then combined the tickets to buy trinkets for children. I remember during a summer vacation when I was around 7, all the apartment kids were in the pool swimming around 8-10am and the parents were out there as well. After we got out of the pool because we needed to eat, the parents decided to take us to Chuck E Cheese’s so we can continue to have fun and eat. Chuck E Cheese is nothing like how it used to be, but I'm glad it's managing to hang around. It was *the* place for birthdays back in the day. One of the first birthdays I can remember was at a Chuck E Cheese and you feel absolutely spoiled when you're there and it's your birthday. They had the robot band sing to me, I was given a bunch of free tokens with a special token holder, and there were a ton of fun arcade games...like actual video games. I freaking loved it. The version you have in New Zealand sounds very similar to the now extinct 'Discovery Zone' (another awesome place for bdays). Wow...I feel old.

I've also heard Dippin' Dots are really good as well, someday I'd like to try them. I am loving this so much, it feels so cool that you hit my hometown of Santa Maria. I have been to Chuck E Cheese when I was a kid in the 80's , not sure if you are in the same one. They used to allow field trips for schools and birthday parties and show kids how the pizza is made. As you move north I hope you hit Morro Bay and Avila Beach. The menu is geared for children. It used to be a place we would have birthday parties for children in the 80s. I didn't know they were still around. Still looks fun. 🎉🍕

If you go through Oregon again, look for an Abby's pizza. It's not a national franchise but they have delicious pizza. My favorite is create your own - pepperoni/mushroom/black olive.

I haven't been to Chuck E Cheese since 1992 lol. It was for a friend's birthday party, quite memorable. Games were really fun, the pizza was good, and just had a blast. Glad you got to try this American favorite. This place reminds me of Funworks aka The Nickel arcade, Putt Putt Golf, and Camelot Park aka Boomers. Great times in the 90's.

I hope you guys make it to the big texan steak ranch in Amarillo or the Cadillac ranch. Take spray paint cans with you to the Cadillac Ranch if you guys stop there. I like your different takes on the rating scale. It lets everyone represent and be heard. I grew up with the original Showbiz Pizza of the 80’s. The experience was creepily magical and the pizza never was that great but the salad bar was always a hit! My parents would load up their plates when we’d go. In fact, my husband & I stopped by one in the recent past just to eat from the salad bar and reminisce…have to say it was really pretty good as far as quality. I love your appreciation for our country and how you also reminisce over things you’ve never experienced, but only seen or heard from across the pond. So interesting!

I haven't been to Chuck E Cheese since I was a kid. If you're heading up the California coast, Milpitas has a Dave and Busters, which is Chuck E cheese for adults. They have all the arcade games, a restaurant, and a bar. At some point they kick out everyone under 18.

Lot of the Chuck E Cheeses closed down. They had arcade games but also slides, ball pits, Chuck E and the robotic band playing music. It's really cool for kids celebrations. It just reminds me when my kids were younger. My son was terrified of the mouse. It was so funny. Hey it's all about the experience. We always tell ourselves whenever we paid money and it didn't pan out like we wanted ..we say..we did it..we experienced it..we won't do it again. It's more for the kids. I'm glad your in the US
