@@phantomoftheveganflatland6148 Well phantom. after seeing many similar replies on different threads & comments on this video, I wonder what your issue is? Do you search out videos to be offended by - and then read the threads to find even more fuel to be offended by? Perhaps it's a revelation to you, but rude & ignorant comments usually don't win over friends and people to your cause. In the political realm, it always seems that if a Liberal doesn't like something they want to control everyone else's actions and ban whatever that is, and if a Conservative doesn't like something - they just don't do it or pursue it. Is this your cause or religion to irritate & offend perfect strangers and then hope in some futile desperate way they will change their opinion? Or are you hoping people will respond in a like manner to your personal insults & rudeness so you will somehow then be able to feel like a victim & entitled to your uncivilized behavior? I somehow doubt you would be so volatile face to face with people for fear of being dealt with differently. Whatever your reasoning, I feel sorry for you that you would spend so much energy trying to make enemies.

Thankfully they don't think such things.. In my 50 + years of being around cows and butchering animals I have never witnessed anything that would suggest cows recognize, care, or understand if another is being butchered. They do think and can be taught, and also do display instinctual behaviors including reacting sometimes when they smell blood. This does not mean they understand, or have emotions like many people believe. Movies make people believe they are just like people with the same capacities. It’s just not true. As far as seeing another cow being butchered, they seem to be no more curious or concerned than when they see a plastic bag caught in a rose bush. Listening to you getting a steer that dressed out at 1800lbs carcass weight is one big animal. I remember cutting one up about 40 years ago when I was a butchering, and it dressed out well over 1800lbs, took 4 of us to swing the buggers front quarter onto the saw. The dairy cows are called Holstein Friesian, they’re a Dutch breed. We were always taught to get a trade then do what ya want to do in life, I went the route of law enforcement, but always had my trade for hunting moose bear and other game. This fellow does a nice job with his set up. We used to used cleavers ( very large ones) to split veal calves. Really enjoyed the video brought many memories back. @keyup26267 ай бұрын
@@lovesloudcars those knives held a nice edge, and reasonably priced too. It’s also cool there made in NZ. I worked the retail trade then finished in a good sized abattoir. When I started in the early 80’s as a butcher it still was a great trade, then the business shifted to “box meat” everything broken down on an assembly line in huge meat processing plants. It just wasn’t the way I wanted to send 35 to 40 years working in the cold and doing the same thing over and over again. I was trained to do everything smoking sausage making the whole trade. Now they call the meat cutters, just not the same trade as it was once. It’s sad people look down on the trades. I asked at a grocery store what there cutters make a hour now, I thought was making about the same money 40 years ago as they are now. Not get trade it once was unfortunately. We used to have a bone saw that split the the carcass, it only left a wee bit of bone dust after splitting. I’ve seen people use axes hand saws cleavers and chainsaws to split the carcass. I agree with you he had a great set up on the trailer. He was really clean to. Rinsing the beef carcass after skinning is so important. It avoids E. coli from faeces that might have gotten on the carcass when skinning the animal. Did that fellow do the custom cutting to or just killing. There’s another fella that does the KZbin Channel from New Zealand. That does the same thing. He just has a bigger truck can’t remember his KZbin channel name. It would good to see the trades more respected in North America that’s for sure. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

I've been on Top Chef binge for a while now going through all 21 seasons just see what little things i can pick up from it and there was an episode on season 17 i think it was when they were in Kentucky, and they brought a buther from Italy named Dario Cecchini, his favorite word is CARNE! But he was a maestro of breaking down a half of a cow and explaining quickly what the pieces were. The winner of that challenge got to visit Dario in Italy and learn from him. This was amazing to watch. I praise farmers, cattle ranchers, butchers and chefs/cooks who treat the animals with love and respect and use as much of the animals as possible. This guy has a great thing going and kinda wish he had a world wide business cause this should be everywhere. Skills for days. Great setup. Bless this mans hands. Awesome video.
