Lived in Wellington for 3 years. It's an AMAZING city with so much nature right on your doorstep. If you head back I highly recommend: -Red Rocks hike -Renting bikes and cycling to Pencarrow lighthouse (theres a bike rental pop up right at the start) -Paekakariki escarpment track Also I love telling people about the nightflower which is a speak easy type menuless cocktail bar. Super cool vibe and highly recommend 😊 Enjoy Nz and Welly. Newly moved back to Canada and missing welly for sure.

Oh and "Over the Hill" is a must. As you you should drive over the rimutuka ranges over to Martinborough and cycle the wineries there but most importantly sign up for the patuna chasm walk! It was one of my favourite experienced in New Zealand. It involves walking through a chasm so you get a touch wet. We just bought cheap water shoes at warehouse for it but others just wrote a pair of old running shoes! Highly recommend it!

Hi Brittany :) I also really enjoyed Wellington during my visit, but my favourite places are Wanaka, Queenstown and Milford Sound. If you ever get the chance to visit them I'd highly recommend it because it is also very beautiful down there. Either way, this was an excellent video. 😊 Keep up the good work.

Qualifications, Wellington born and bred with a Sister born in Edmonton, Alberta (Parents lived there) . Wellington is a great place to live, especially on a good day - its awesome, on a bad day, can be tough - especially with the wind. Its a compact city and not large in population terms, but being the capital means it has all the National institutions - National Museum, National Library, National Orchestra, Government departments etc. Embassies of other countries also, so very diverse and a cultural hub. If looking to buy/rent - ensure it gets good sun (lots of hills so sometimes blocked) , ideally would be nice to walk to work but thats pricy. I "flatted" in Mt Victoria - was great to be able to go for a run along Oriental Bay (has its own beach) in the evening - best bit of Wellington really. Train services are good to Tawa/Kapiti and the Hutt so can easily be a more cost effective option. I grew up in Tawa - 12 mins on the train to Wellington from Takapu Road station.

Fantastic information! Wellington really captured my heart. I've been applying to jobs there but nothing yet so we are now planning for Nelson or Christchurch. We will be visiting Wellington for a few days in about a month and I can't wait to explore more of the city (especially The Papa museum!!).

@@brittanymorgan09 Nice, Nelson has a great climate but can be a bit quiet and slow - depends what you are after. Christchurch is much bigger and has much more happening. It also has the Nor' wester which you will be used to with the Chinook in Calgary.

@@edwardmcgill1640 a lot of people have mentioned Nelson being quiet. We haven't been yet so I feel like we need to spend a few nights exploring before committing but I love being in the outdoors and I think that would be a huge bonus! Christchurch is the easy option, similar to Calgary (though much smaller) and actually affordable!!

Kaikoura... Kai - Food... Koura - Crayfish. Yes ur right great place to visit, and yes u can hike the those mountains right to the top, notice the beach rock formation in ur shots were raised up by the earthquake ... you's definitely covered a lot miles on this journey. Interesting to note you's were planing to stay in Burnham I was raised their as a kid, its a military camp.

Very interesting! We did learn about the earthquake that raised up the rocks in Kaikoura, it's such a unique spot. Thanks for watching 🙂. We're on an equestrian farm in Burnham but drove past the military camp a few days ago, it's a cool area! Close to the mountains which I love.
