It seems to go in 700 year cycles. The Maori arrived in 1250 from Taiwan originally. Before them, the Waitaha arrived in 550AD from South America bringing with them the kumera. Then before them the Patupairehe arrived from Persia in 250BC. Maori don't want to know this history as it gives them less claim on NZ.The tangata whenua lived peacefully in NZ for over 1,000 years before Maori arrived.

@@paulyoshikoclemo1294 none of that is true. let me help you to learn our history: about 4000 years ago austronesians sailed to the philippines, madagascar, the western pacific. about 3000 years ago they reached tonga/samoa, and over the next thousand years or so became polynesian there. about 1500 years ago polynesians sailed to tahiti about 800 years ago they sailed to hawaii, easter island, new zealand. they were the first people in those places. about 600 years ago a group of them sailed to the chatham islands and became moriori there. the first people of new zealand were the eastern polynesian ancestors of maori, arriving from around 1250AD. all this is supported by science. what you claim above is fantasy stories from kooks.

Unfortunately the winners of war write the history. Cortes and his men destroyed much of the incas and aztecs history books. Then mad an effort to preserve some, by then it was too late. Russia lost all their history from communist takeover. The tartary empire all but forgotten. Europeans are currently having their history changed. Statues being pulled down all over the western world. History Rewritten. Films and myths are constantly being changed to suit modern day populations and communist ideology. Political correctness. China's history is being erased. From the covering up their temples. The hidden history of the tarim basin mummies in china of indo European decent. Oldest mummies in China. Also how a few Europeans mysteriously found buried by the terracotta army. The Middle East are destroying old Buddhist statues, isis blow them up, some are 1000s of years old, much like how china are deconstructing them. Colonialism erased and also helped preserve artifacts. Chinese people were known to sell off artifacts to Europeans to stop them beign destroyed in their own country.. which never gets a word in. Egypt for example, the arabs removed the shiny polished limestone finish of the giza pyramids to use the limestone in the building of mosques.

If there is NO evidence, documentation, depictions or photos of something in the past then it is relegated to being 'Oral Only' and speculated by everyone or anyone never to be labelled wrong or right/true or false. NZ societal rhetoric and educational set ups are extremely questionable and essentially now 'political' with a twisted bias against Europeans being the devils that destroyed and stole - quite sad really.

Thank you for this very interesting documentary. The story of the digger worker rang a bell with me. Concerning a story that my father told me. During his time, there was digging happening, where a grave was found. The skeleton was sitting up, in the foetal position. They stopped working and asked for help from the local maori about what they were to do. He said, that it was a criminal, that’s why he’s buried that way. Don’t worry about it. Continue with your work. Forget about it. My father told me that when I was a kid. I’m 58 now. I’ve also wondered about that story as I have been to the Chatham Islands. Where I’m told was the traditional way of burying their dead. Further, the comment about the marxist agenda rings true in 2022. Thanks again. I’m going to watch part 2. 🇳🇿NZ

@@johnsmulders5070 It's those such as yourself that will allow hate to permeate our culture. We emigrated here in very recent history via the ocean routes. In contrast to the indigenous Australians that have inhabited Australia since 50 or 60,000 years, well before the evolution of modern humans 10,000 years ago. The Maori claim is 1,000 years? Look at the damage done in that short time of pre-european contact. There's evidence of 40% forest cover being scorched, many species of indigenous organisms driven to extinction and the effects of utu-fuelled wars and widespread starvation. Maori have not been the kaitiaki that our kids are being educated on today. The word itself, Maori, has never represented one people or one land. Maori have always been divided by waka and iwi, and have never considered that these islands were one country. There's no word for New Zealand in Maori. The word Aotearoa is old pūrākau about Kupe's wife and was a word to describe the north island. The idea of unification is a colonial idea

Thank you. My ex is green eyed and freckles Nga Puhi and told me similar stories including the design of carvings and moko. It would be awesome if the true history could be outted as there is a lot of cultural unrest and racism in New Zealand that this would really shake up. Many are shocked at the word indigenous being thrown around. You cannot have stories of travelling here on boats that are so strong as part of the culture and call yourself the first and only inhabitants of a country, it's one or the other. The word has lost its meaning and is an insult to true indigenous people.

So there can be no pride of race so really in God it doesn't matter about what we are physically because that will pass away.

I’m fair maori also with green eyes, idk what my natural hair is anymore as I’ve had it dark black/brown for years now..really brings out my features but I had whaka blonde hair as a child. My mum is pakeha with blue eyes and my father is maori/ngati whatua although I don’t really know him or my whanau on that side. Being taken from my mother into cyfs when I was little and only knowing her side left me so lost & disconnected..I’m still yet to reconnect with my roots and know where I’m from and who my whanau are…but I’ve always had a strong connection to our culture, language etc well..I encountered Him so it’s not my identity anymore but i couldn’t be more proud to be maori! Despite how a lot of our people are lost and gone left haha..think being maori is acting hard or ‘gangsta’..Wish I could be as proud of my white side too but my mums side don’t even like maori or accept us because we have it in our blood. They only accepted me as a child because I was blonde and had green eyes till I got darker/tan/more olive (im anaemic/anaemia now so get pretty fair which isn’t natural since having my twins and then my baby 7 months ago)😅 anywayyyyy lol KIAORA E TE WHANAU 🥰🥰

Their sacred mountain was Mount Meru which features on ancient maps in Delhi museums. Mount Meru was a great spiritual centre in a now sunken area below what is Sri Lanka. I came across these passages while researching a book i wrote and illustrated, THE LEGEND OF THE KIWI, published in 1981 by Alister Taylor Publishers.

Fun reference, the colonization of the Maori peoples in New Zealand was used in context to argue against the war and annexation of Texas, the exact quote is “ Such has been the fact. Plundering, massacres, cruelties, the killing of the wounded on the field of battle, and even in some cases burning alive at the stake, have been recorded on the highest official authority, as a part of the history of the Mexican war. Two free Christian nations, in the nineteenth century, going to war with one another, and in that war witnessing and perpetrating barbarities that would disgrace New Zealand!” In short, although the colonization of the Māori was unjust, it would be trumped by the acts and nature of the Mexican American war of 1846, which was said to be more brutal and more overt than what the English were doing, and one that they said would even make the colonists of New Zealand shutter at the flagrant violence , like the Māori Mexico lost 55% of its territory, and suffers from it ever since

They will do everything in their power to hide God because they worship Lucifer. This is why the Smithsonian hid & destroyed giant bones throughout its history because it proves God's Word to be true yet again!! They have to keep the evolution lie going so as to deceive as many as they can. Great question & using critical thinking, never stop. This female and other pakeha commentators have not learned to pronounce the maori language at all well, yet are supposed to be experts in NZ pre-european history. Something doesn't feel right. There could be other explanations of much earlier arrivals of celtic, nordic and peruvian influence through drift or semi-intentional immigration long before official records. There have been many attempts to change the narrative to diminish Maori historical claims to be the original tangata whenua or indigeous people, so I remain a skeptic at this stage. That giant's skull looks very fake as if the giant jawbone is not a real match to the skull. And by the way a maori friend has a german (prussian) ancestor and the gene for blonde and redhead with blue or green eyes expresses stongly in her children several generations later.

Interesting, intriguing even - but the Welsh aren’t Celts - for another day but the term Celt is grossly misused today. One might be able to place the Irish and the Scots (just Irish Gaels who invaded Scotland) under the broad umbrella of Celtic, due to their language being related to the so called ‘Celtic’ languages of the continent etc however, the Welsh and Picts are far older! Welsh dna is most closely related to Basque dna and the basques are a pre-indoeuropean people. Pre indoeuropean people (very few) had fairs eyes but not fair hair - that comes from the East - the Urals and Russian steppes etc... from there down into Persia and northern India before coming to Europe. Red/blond hair (not fair eyes) is a result of genetic isolation - it’s why so many Irish and Scots today have it, why so many Scandinavians have it, why the mountain people’s in northern India have and... yes, it’s why many Polynesian islanders have it - the aborigines in northern Australia, Kimberly and Darwin etc, they also have it due to isolation... the connection to the ancient indoeuropean populations is more plausible than any connection to the Welsh or any Celts - wishful thinking on that one! But the indoeuropean connection? It’s now thought be many that pre cataclysms the world was one united indoeuropean culture and the indoeuropeans dominated the whole earth etc etc... now that is intriguing!

do you mean blond red hair polynesian islanders are related to indo European like scandinavian?
@dannyboywhaa3146

Ryin n I don’t know - could either be a result of genetic isolation - ie the same evolutionary process happened in both populations independently or they are indeed related. Red haired mummies in Egypt, red haired people in Persia, Pakistan, northern India, Northern America, Central America and Andes mummies had red haired as well. (Muslims dye their beards red to venerate Muhammad - who apparently had a red beard) it’s hard to find an answer to that question from geneticists! The more we find out the more we find ancient humanity was indeed capable of great feats of ocean travel and thus humanity is much more mixed and connected than we previously thought!

My awareness is that Maori arrived here long before the time frame in this documentary. My spiritual understanding is Maori originally came from the island of Og in Atlantis. Prior to the demise of Atlantis and the majority migrated to Peru. Others from the island of Aryn in the Atlantis migrated north the beginning of the Celtic race. The remainder from the island of Poseida in Atlantis went into what we know as America. They are the American Indians. These 3 islands were the last remaining islands of Atlantis which had had previous upheavals separating them into islands and to my knowledge is what the old time memories of Maori refer to as Hawaiiki Nui. Lemuria was the first civilization on the planet. We are the same souls returning to the earth time and time again and each time we reincarnated into many different races according to the lessons our souls require. Hence we all carry the genes of the many races on the earth.

People barely speak of the true spirits of nz, the true indigenous. And that is the giant birds. I think the spirits of the land itself are crying, and not impressed with any of us. The islands sat here safe for countless eons with no people, birds grew flightless and giant and lived here in their home in peace for an amazingly vast amount of time before we all turned up and wiped them out without any care for them or their history or future alongside much of their forest now to make room for colonization. yet we impose our gods and cultures (everyone this is, not to single any group out) and we march around like a bunch of dicks these days shitting on each other as though we all been here for a million years. We should unite and pay our respects to the ancient and indigenous lives that are now gone forever because of our greed and inability to truly keep this land the place it was when humans arrived. But the same can be said about many lands.

It is truly sad to read some of the comments below wherein the posters (Jackson, Bernie, Euan, et al) deny there was anything pre-maori . Even to the point of denigration of some of the interviewees, who were themselves of maori descent (a fuck#ng bunch of white misanthropic misinformational codswollop). Why do they have such vitriol? When (if) those people had chosen to view episode 2 and seen the evidence of carbon dating of wood from a shipwreck on the west coast near Dargaville of a Chinese ship with timbers dating back at least 5,000 (yes, thousand) years, how is it conceivable that they deny the mountains of evidence. One can only assume that they have an agenda, and such information does not suit their cause. Or the evidence buried beneath ash and lava from the Taupo eruption, of mankind being here pre that time. There will be a day of reckoning when the history that is currently being "swept under the carpet" will be brought out of the darkness (Te Papa museum) and become mainstream. In the meantime, your government (your source of truth ??) continues to facilitate the re-writing of history to placate the shrill pleadings of "the woke brigade".

the content of the video and the suggestion of pre-maori people in new zealand is anti-science fantasy nonsense. human occupation leaves evidence in the way of middens, artifacts, structures, dna, remains, introduced species and fires. before 1250AD there is none of this evidence that is independently verifiable, and after 1300AD there is a ton of it. i don't know what the woke brigade has to do with this, the first people of new zealand were the polynesian ancestors of maori arriving from the later 1200s onwards, that's just science fact.

This documentary is although riveting and entertaining it cannot be considered as absolute fact there are so many facts that this documentary does not acknowledge and the first one being no matter were any of these people from the pacific originally come from they are all connected the lady from Rapa nui is in denial to that fact she lives in New Zealand and still considers herself different to maori people because her tribe is Ngati hotu forgetting the fact all maori tribes are ngati something. The truth is maori people are the result of many tribes and there are plenty of waka blondes red haired maori green eyed maori today so they haven't gone anywhere.

I wish I had discovered this documentary earlier. I have always had this theory about the Cherokee. Because a lot of their dress and traditions are very celtic. They were also called the blue-eyed people. There are also many stone round buildings very similar to the ones in this documentary built around the American southern coast. There is also many interesting artifacts found all over the United States that are extremely Celtic seeming. There's a spot in New York state where I live. That's almost looks like a stone beehive type Village that I saw when I went to Ireland. Now of course all of the historians and archaeologists have told us these are just root Cellars and storage facilities built by white settlers. But there are so many Legends and ancient stories with the Native Americans that tell of these fair-skinned fair-haired people whose Behavior is very non-native American. this is fascinating. Now due to the fact that I have no degree in any type of history study I've been told I'm an idiot and don't know what I'm talking about. However I've always been very fascinated with history. It's also very interesting that there was a group of skeletons found that we're about 7 ft tall and red hair. They were found out west in the united states. There was a woman from the Paiute Tribe. Called Sarah Winnemucca who wrote a book called life among the Paiute. In this book she tells a story about these red-haired giants who were cannibals that her people destroyed you have got me completely riveted. The rest of my day is completely canceled I'm doing nothing but watching this

Skeletons in the Closet has been debunked not only by academics and reporters including someone (can't remember his name it was a while back) who responded with numerous evidence, whoa and it was a longgggg thread, (unfortunately the earliest version of the video has been taken down since the owner has closed the account kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpjLXqV5bZWNhsU) and this is where I had witnessed the thread. After intense cross examination the late Noel Hilliam, documentary creator, was reported to have been in cahoots with unknown persons to have been in possession of ancient Maori skulls which had been stolen in Hilliam's efforts to prove his theory. Academics have denied having been in contact with either Hiliiam and Martin Doutre and have stated they've never verified the findings for them either even though Doutre and Hilliam note that academics have supported there claims. Martin Doutre (another of the documentaries creators) has ties to white supremacist overseas and one here in New Zealand, Kerry Bolton, well known here in our country, whom has been involved in attempting to disprove Maori and our indigenous rights to Aotearoa for quite some time. Martin Doutre believes there is a conspiracy here in New Zealand he points out there is a suppression of history by mainstream academics all working together to hide evidence that pakeha notibly Celts had visited Aotearoa centuries before Maori. From Palmerston North City New Zealand.

Firstly, maori lived throughout the pacfic and couldn't fish with nets, wake up people, our main source of food was fish, eel, shellfish etc. Secondly, maori come from a hot land called india, funny this was said because not that long ago india was known by another name derived from the Sanskrit language. Thirdly, this whole documentary is mostly narrated by pakeha, what a load of garbage, dont try to rewrite Maori history, you can barely pronounce the words correctly. Patupairehe are spiritual to maori which is the only bit i agree with. there is a huge spanish influence through out the coastal regions of Aotearoa, also some Dutch as europeans were trading long before cook arrived, hence a taint in the bloodline

I noticed that. A lot of people who tell stories of Maori history are always and usually of White descent. Never real true Maoris but those who try and belittle Maori race. Instead of their own. Some of the information in this doco is incorrect and problematic. Some who speak in this documentary have no sources to back up their claims, and even belongs to far right groups. This doco surely shows the age it was created in.
