I was driving to work in Huntington when I was passed by the car making its getaway. It was around 3:30-3:45ish so there was a lot of traffic, they were going around 90 on the left shoulder of the freeway with cops in pursuit. I was born & raised a couple miles away from Fashion Island. Had several friends who worked there in HS in the Summer. It was blissfully safe(late '80's/early '90's)-back then the worst crime that occurred occasionally was shoplifting. What a tragedy for the victims, my thoughts & condolences go out to their families. I still reside in the area & unfortunately, after the pandemic, there's been a LOT of crime in the area. The city, including the Irvine Co.-who owns Fashion Island, has an ethical responsibility to make visitors aware of the dangers in the area. But I know that they don't want to take such actions bc they're only concerned about the effects that would have on their profits-it's despicable!
