The printing out your resumé and handing them to potential employers is seriously fantastic advice! I went to Australia on a WHV and the only way I found jobs was by walking the streets and handing my resumé to businesses in person!

The problem with both NZ and Australia is they accept thousands of working visa applications every year so not even the locals can find jobs as there hundreds of people looking for work. Glad you took the initiative and went door knocking for work.

Great video. Very impressed you got a car so quickly. Good advice about walking into businesses and handing out your CV. Employers want to know what the person looks like (are they smiley etc) and it saves them having to call back a bunch of people if you just walk in.

this is really valuable advice Madilyn! i'm first-time solo traveler going on a working holiday and I'm sort of stressed by how many things I need to figure out before leaving. Finding a job and accommodation is the biggest for me! Did you hire an agency or did you do everything yourself? Like applying for a visa, and booking a flight?

happy to help Iva!! I've traveled by myself for the last five years, so i felt comfortable doing it myself but i have friends that have gone through an agency and that can alleviate a lot of stress (esp for your first time!). my biggest piece of advice is just take it one step at a time :-) good luck!

When I say granted I meant like the month you can go to the NZ. I hope you can reply (or anyone who can answer). Thank you Ps. Will they ask you when do you want to go to NZ? I dont know if they ask that so they can adjust the visa date... Thanks

@MadilynSchroeder
@MadilynSchroeder Жыл бұрын
I don't plan on staying longer than a year, however if you come over on a WHV and work for a company (even bars/hospitality/etc) a lot of places will sponsor you to stay and you can even work towards residency. I know a lot of people doing that! I'd say just come over and see how you like it, and go from there :-) best of luck!
