I’ve fished the natural Goby last couple days and will be having a video coming out later today/tonight. I was pretty much fishing slow dragging on bottom, jigging and putting in some faster retrieves. The top fin did SOMETIMES go on one side of the hook. Not much but every now and again. Once it’s wet it separates easy. Great forest look brother!!! I think your really going to like it. It definitely catches fish 😉

Thanks for watching Chris! Glad you had success with it. I feel like the smallies on Lake St Clair will eat it up this Spring too!

Fantastic overview. It’s good to see it side by side with the dark sleeper. I’m sure you’ll crush with it on the smallies!

Thanks Lucas, great information! Any thoughts on a storage box for these, besides the original packaging?

Thanks for watching buddy! I made a suggestion in the video you may have to rewatch it now! But outside of the cheap packaging options would definitely be limited!

I have a big problem with the weight popping out of the front of the dark sleeper. But I also drag it on the bottom alot, I'm definitely going to have to grab some of those gobious
@TheOutdoorConquest11 ай бұрын
The plastic of the dark sleeper is the same as their spark shad which I really like BUT the same it’s just not tough

I COMPLETELY agree with you as far as how to fish this thing. I'm going to be dragging it like a tube if I decide to buy them. It looks SO MUCH BETTER than the dark sleeper and that's the only reason why I would buy it. There's no way that tail is going to kick as good as the dark sleeper, though. If you start catching on them, I'll buy them. I'll be watching 😂

Good 1st look 💯. Never tried any of them bait yet, so maybe I do Z-man brand, now that they have one.

The Dark Sleeper is without question my go to smallmouth bait but I think this will have its place and time for sure. Thanks bro!

I’m actually pumped about these, but I can already see one modification that might be necessary to make this compete with the Sleepers

I’m pretty pumped too!

What’s the mod you’re thinking about? I’ve turned the hook down just a millimeter or two with some pliers to avoid grabbing leaves off the bottom this time of year.
@dtffishingmi10 ай бұрын
@@thomasrich5453 Trim off the rear-most 50% of the anal and dorsal fins to allow for wider tail movement (trim it to be like the Dark Sleeper), and line the inside of the fin guard with a flexible resin to stiffen it enough to prevent the hook from sticking in the plastic
@brandonsmith60611 ай бұрын
I bought one to try out but I am concerned about the light wire hook. I got the bubble gut color I plan to try this week. I fish both exactly like a jig
@TheOutdoorConquest11 ай бұрын
The hook is concerning for sure! Good luck! Thanks for watching!
@patrickonasis111 ай бұрын
My issue with the Gobius is I’m losing a lot of fish due to not having enough gap between the hook and the body.I trimmed the dorsal fins and some of the body away and my hook up ratio improved dramatically.Seems like they probably should’ve went at least one size up on the hook are maybe two sizes.

Thanks for watching and the feedback!

Im gunna put a thin layer of super glue on the inside top-half of the fin guards to keep the hook from sticking on them, bet it helps
@TheOutdoorConquest11 ай бұрын
I feel like just eliminating them would be ok too
@gummo387311 ай бұрын
Super glue will have that bait smelling like chemical soup for the entirety of the baits life to whatever fish might have been thinking about eating it. Food for thought
@dtffishingmi11 ай бұрын
@@gummo3873 hmm I’ll have to look into the type of glue, or find another way to just toughen up the inside of that guard. Maybe a flexible clear resin

Between da sleeper craw and gobius. Which one is better brother?

I’m going to say the Gobius will be my go to. I rarely use a craw style bait though

Live Target has a good looking goby swimbait as well. I've only thrown it once or twice and wasn't impressed with the action. Haven't caught a fish on them. They were on sale here in Canada at Canadian Tire, so that should be the first sign.

It is just a knock-off megabass dark sleepers, zman is not the only one to do so, maybe the material is stringer and would last better
@TheOutdoorConquest11 ай бұрын
A few companies have copied Megabass for sure. I have them all. This one is slightly different but I can’t say it’s better yet. Thanks for watching!
@wolverinex424311 ай бұрын
Both are jigs. Tails are too small on both. For swimbaits, better to go with a different profile. For bass, better with other swimbaits or lures. Maybe they're best in striper or goby waters. At bottom, fish don't really hit these types of bottom jigs as opposed to the real thing. That said, may not come into play as much as you would like. Still a good overview.

Trim off the back 50% of the rear dorsal and anal fins, bet it increases the tail action to be closer to the sleeper

Maybe….but the plastic composition of the sleeper and size of the boot I feel really is what makes it dance
