All those fridge 'brands' are from Alpicool factory OEM. This is TWW series of different sizes, you can find many on Amazon from different branded vendors, some come with Lithium 11.4v battery 15ah or something (I saw one on Amazon for $100 from Alpicool) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKDYk5RnoKaNbbs

Being that is has an LG compressor it probably is made in the alpicool factory. The cheaper models use the Chinese Haujun compressors the higher quality fridges use the LG compressors. I still prefer my SECOP compressor for reliability but this one isn't bad at all. I was impressed by the performance.

BTW, the Bodega website shows their branded version of this cooler to be available with either the LG compressor or a compressor they describe as "Chinese New compressor. More quiet, powerful and stable." The LG version's Rated Power Input is 80W, while the 'compressor-of-the-month' version's Rated Power Input is 90W

The version I have contains the LG branded compressor. I think the Chinese compressors are good as well. I have tested many fridges with the HuaJun branded compressors and they work well.

You're the only youtuber that knows that's a battery compartment so far, lol. Since this is a customized Alpicool tww75, you can likely get the battery from them. The battery is 15600mah (unsure of V to calculate watt hrs). I just noticed someone mentioned this 2 weeks ago, did you try to get in touch to get one?

You can probably buy one from another seller/brand that knows what it is. They are around 7 or 9 amp hours so not huge but any storage helps. I'm trying to remember the brand that actually sold the battery with their fridge.

Iceco has grown so much this year, I think most of their support issues are just from growing pains. I do admit they are slow to respond. Iceco still makes an excellent product. Most issues come from ignorance in how to properly use/power the fridges. Newair is a great product. You will probably get a better response from their support group because they much larger.

I know you did this video awhile ago but based on LG's history with compressors I don't think I'd label it reliable quite yet. I still think Danfoss is the king but the Chinese knock offs are about a quarter of the price to buy on their own. My fridge I converted to 12v I used a cheap Chinese compressor and it was so cheap I have a spare just in case of failure

The purpose of the female coax port port marked "Solar" is not mentioned in either the Newair or Bodega manuals for these coolers. I would have assumed this port would accept a wider range of DC voltage instead of the choice of either ~12vDC or ~24vDC, but Bodega reps answered numerous Amazon Q&As on by saying that it cannot be directly powered by solar panels, without further explanation. Given that, my guess is that maybe that port is merely a pass-through to the optional battery pack, because the info about the pack on the bodega cooler website states: "You can charge it in the portable fridge (DC 12/24V and AC 100-240V) or solar panel (12-50V). Also, it can be charged by the dedicated battery charger and the charging station. (need to purchase separately)"
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
They have proprietary batteries that are small and expensive (as seen on Bodega website) you can plug in a solar panel and charge up the battery. It's much better to use you own power station and solar panel setup because you can run it much longer than the small expensive battery from Bodega.
@videopipeline6419
@videopipeline6419 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jasonoid re: "They have proprietary batteries that are small and expensive (as seen on Bodega website)" Yeah, that's where the specs mentioned in my post above came from. The battery cost isn't too bad compared to the cost of power tool batteries of similar capacity. But I avoid buying batteries that I can only use for one device or tool. Personally, I would like to see these coolers able to accept input of a reasonable range of voltage instead of the choice of either ~12vDC or ~24vDC. That way it could be powered directly by 18v (nominal) power tool batteries. As it stands now, I could still do that but lose a few percent through a 13vDC step-down converter. re: "It's much better to use you own power station" ...That depends on the usage. Of course if someone is using it for extended periods of time in a remote location dependent entirely on solar power, then a much larger external battery makes more sense. But *if somebody wants the cooler as a more easily tote-able self-contained unit* (say, for use at an event some distance from a parking lot), *then the optional plug-in LiIon battery would be a lot more convenient than any external setup.* The Bodega website lists it as 15600mAh/173Wh (which means it must be only ~11.1v nominal), but that would provide upwards of four hours runtime on eco mode, meaning maybe twice that many hours if it's not too hot. That's plenty of time for many events, soccer game, picnic, whatever, all in a self-contained unit that has wheels without lugging/hooking up any extra external stuff.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
@@videopipeline6419 well I know most of these accept 12 to 24 volts input... So it would be interesting to test running a fridge off a tool battery..... I'll give it a whirl sometime! The run time would be crazy long but if someone already has a bunch laying around = money saved!
@videopipeline6419
@videopipeline6419 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jasonoid I have always assumed that these units (generally speaking) only run in the narrow voltage range typically listed for either the ~12vDC setting *or* the ~24vDC setting. Of course any power tool battery would have to have higher voltage than the lowest low-voltage (battery rundown protection) cutoff, but *MAYBE* these unit don't actually have over-voltage protection? I assumed they do, but maybe not. So *MAYBE* an 18v nominal power tool battery would run one of these units if it's set on the ~12vDC setting. BTW, if you (or anyone else) plans on doing this for anything but a test, the only Li-Ion power tool batteries safe to use are Ridgid, Ryobi (and maybe Makita) 18v packs, because those are the only ones with full battery protection circuitry in the packs. All other major brands now have all the battery protection in the tools.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
@@videopipeline6419 thanks for the tip on the brand of batteries that have the built in battery protection. You can find the voltage ranges on online in the owners manuals for many of these fridges. 18v might work for the 12v input, there isn't a switch between either 12v or 24v, it auto senses the input voltage.

How many hours will this fridge run on a jackery 500?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
Plan for about 35 watts during warmer temps outside, less power usage during cooler outside temps. To figure out the time it would run just take the battery capacity and divide it by the watts (500 wh / 35 watts = 14 hours). If you have a solar panel to keep the battery full during the day, it should run just fine through the night.
