◼︎In this video, I tried some traditional Newari food, which is known for its bold spiciness. These meals are a cultural hallmark of the Newari people, the historic inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley and its surrounding areas in Nepal. The Newaris are also celebrated as the creators of the region’s rich historical heritage and civilization. Before this culinary adventure, I visited a music shop where I was graciously allowed to play a song on the guitar. This experience not only gave me a taste of Newari cuisine but also a glimpse into the vibrant cultural fabric of Nepal.

One you eat towards the end is pickle made of radish fermented. Oat meal you referring is called beaten rice, basically referring to getting it flat. Potato soup is with the bamboo shoots, once you develop the taste for it, you will love it.

Emeka, "chura" isn't dried oatmeal - it's actually flattened (parboiled) rice. They swell if you put them in a liquid (like that potato soup, I assume) and will absorb the liquid. Flattened rice is also known as "poha" and many other names in India. It makes the rice easily digestible. I love eating it as the namesake dish "poha."

Hi Emeka, If you want very authentic Newari Food then quick trip to SASA Twa at Kirtipur would be best option. This restaurant didn't give you proper experience of Newari Food. They just used "Newari Khaja" to get more customers, Newari Food are very yummy and you won't feel bad next day if you eat in Newari Order. Try the restaurant please.

That's not typical newar but it counts as Nepali food. If you want to try Authentic Newar food items , you can go to "Honacha" in Patan or ask some locals of Kathmandu about that best Newari cafe
