I have always wondered what it is that makes Lyle's music so mesmerizing to me (and as to so many others). Not thinking about the technical sides, like his chord progression, arrangements, narrative etc. Maybe it has to do with the personality and spirit of his own; his music is somewhat a fingerprint of his soul. (Like you find in other performers ; Bill Evans, Keith Jarret, George Cabels, Carsten Dahl; just to grab a few...) And maybe that is the reason why it is so difficult to do covers, recreating that "Lyle-ish" spirit. (Sorry for my expressions; difficult to use words for things like this...) That being said; I have never heard anyone getting so close to the essence of Lyle's music as you. Just as in this piece. And at the same time giving it your own stamp (which of course is a good thing, a "perfect" cover is nothing but a reproduction). Just exellent. Yes, a year since he passed away. Still makes me sad. Thanks for keeping his music alive.

7, 8, 9, 6, 11, 10, 4, 3, 1, 2, 5, 7. that's the running order I play that cd at. not my favourite album. but if i mix it up like that, the wealth of music in it is more evident to my ears. 7 is repeated twice because it's my favourite. this tune. newborn. mays/frisell/marc johnson: a trio heard on mays' two 80s albums, but not again...such a good sound/combo, though.
