Yvonne is right, there *are* “other” ways. As JFK said “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.”

We need to get out and canvas for the socialist independents. All the people who were active during the Corbyn/labour era must still be around. It would help if we had details of how to get involved.

Nice one I only wish I lived in your constituency you would have my vote in a heartbeat. I live in the Hexham constituency under Guy Opperman's rule, not a native of the area I was born and bred in Stoke on Trent which had always been staunch Labour, I moved to this beautiful part of the country in 2009, I was instantly aware of the difference between a staunch Tory seat and a Labour one, they certainly DO 'look after their own' I will be 71 years old by July 4th, and for the first time in my life I will *NOT* be voting Labour in a general election, I am leaning towards the greens at the moment, however I may pick an independent depending on which is most likely to hurt both Tory parties. I had already decided long ago, that my conscience will not let me vote for the lying, cheating, backstabbing self confessed admirer of THAT woman, and a "Zionist" (a racist) who currently claims to represent the working class and the downtrodden of this country, while adopting almost the entire Tory economic manifesto. promising *NO* change, while at the same time using "CHANGE" as an election slogan, it really sums him up. I intended to 'miss' an election this time and vote green or independent instead, in the hope that by next time the Tory infiltrator will be long gone. BUT that was *BEFORE* his clear and unambiguous support for genocide and war crimes, as well as showing contempt for all of the international courts, while continuing to support the war criminals. *LINE IN THE SAND* Right there. I can NOT and I will NOT vote for someone who does not instantly denounce genocide, war crimes, and illegal military occupation of the lands of others, no excuses, no 'wriggle room' EVERY single Labour MP should have resigned instantly and by NOT doing so they therefore give their support to Starmer and his stance on genocide and crimes against humanity, They too are up to their elbows in the blood of the innocent. No matter how many elections I may have left, I SWEAR I shall never EVER vote for that party again. *NEVER FORGET NEVER FORGIVE*

Geordies are a tough electorate. They voted out Driscoll who was a very good performer in the North East. They also voted for Brexit which as you know the rest is history. So you will need all the luck you can get Yvonne.
@TaraSykes36 ай бұрын
I think Jamie Driscoll was voted out because this round there weren't only Geordies voting. Last time it was solely North Tyneside, this time it encompassed South Tyneside along with Sunderland and Durham. Time will show Driscoll would have been the much better choice.

I wish her good fortune. It is hard standing on principle and being an Independent. It takes time, finance, and you need policy positions that are thought out on everything imaginable. With luck, an independent may get a bit of publicity. Unfortunately, a large segment of the electorate haven't the time nor inclination to keep themselves informed of the political detail. It is hard to get a message through to sufficient numbers when the media give all the coverage to the big two. Small parties have similar problems, but have the advantage of having some structure, policies in place, name recognition and they do receive some press coverage. I do hope the Independents, Greens etc win more than a handful of seats.

The problem for the Independent candidate is the fact that nobody knows them and a lot of the electorate are too lazy to reseach. I can never understand how someone could abstain on a vote for a ceasefire!

from a labour point of view surely, before the blair-starmer turn. Basic stuff.
@fatherjack11486 ай бұрын
"other than being anti genocide"... WHAT? when the choice is between someone who is CLEARLY 'pro genocide' as Starmer's own words indicate, and another who is clearly 'anti genocide' I should think EVERYTHING else can wait, or can you imagine a situation in which you would be prepared to allow a bit of mass murder in favour of a few quid less taxes or 5p off oranges? I mean, it's not as though they are white. or even Christian.
@robbishop30806 ай бұрын
@@keithparker1346 Tory MP Alan Duncan also condemns Israel slaughter in Gaza and West Bank but I would personally reject supporting him in the GE. He is quite happy agreeing with the OTHER policies the Tories have. The interview failed to communicate what Yvonne's position is on OTHER issues.
