Yeah what he said, Newcastle, it's awful, crack addicts everywhere, really cold and there's nothing to do.. The beaches suck, can't find a policeman anywhere, no education standards & you'll probably drown inside a bullshark if you're not careful. Go to Gosford or Ourimbah, it's beautiful and people are sober living, hard working and very friendly.

I am a resident of Hamilton South and have been for the last 15 years you know what it might not be the best place to live but it's not as bad as what one would think we are definitely not in comparison with Macquarie Hills the only thing that might look similar is the buildings and yes there are some problems here but it takes a strong person to live where there is one man's floor is another man's roof and another thing people that live in these areas get judged and people are not all criminals in fact Hamilton South has a lot of nice people here they have had unfortunate lives not all people lucky to have their own homes and their own choices but I am grateful for what I have and if you were to go around and ask any elderly people that live here in Hamilton South they will tell you that they like it here and wouldn't swap for the world it isn't for the faint hearted and I would live here in Hamilton South before I lived in any of the other four suburbs maybe you should do a video on Hamilton South and the hardships and the people here because the stigma needs to change people need to stop being judged by their location

So true. I worked in the bottle shop in Hamilton south in the late 90s. Even the hardest parts of houso areas are nothing like those in Sydney.

All well and good for the people who have lived in the area for years. I agree there's good and bad in every suburb. Unfortunately for those people, especially families with children who have been pushed out of the rental market due to exorbitant costs of living, something needs to be done about the self entitled A#@* holes who believe they can treat new people to the area like 💩 because they've been there longer!! Time people stop accepting this unsociable self entitled behaviour and get rid of the scum bags so our children can be given a safe, healthy environment to grow.

I’m living in Shortland now. Lots has changed since I moved here in 2007. Lock your cars and house at night. Newcastle is overall a great city. I find everything I need without leaving the LGA.

As a Newcastle city bus driver. Most drug deals, exchanges are carried out on our bus network. We have asked for help, sent email, contacted police intelligence, no support. The level of domestic violence against others riding the service and us drivers is now extremely out of control. An average, an assault on a bus driver happens 2x a day.

In USSR there was so called "101st kilometer", belt of industrial towns arown Moscow immediately beyond 100km area where small criminals not allowed to settle after they serve their sentences. So they settle in these towns with all their problems. My mother was born there and ran away to uni and marriage. And here in Australia I met absolutely the same, just English-speaking. What is worth to notice - Wollongong does not have similar smell, even with similar coal and steel industry, similar distance to Sydney, similar population and so on. Why - do not know.

Newcastle has some of the largest cancer clusters in the country. Best advice, stay ay least 50 km away from any Defence facilities or any areas that were Defence facilities. Source CSIRO. Carinogens include PFAS. There are far better places to live.
