My favourite vlog of a flight from Newcastle International Airport to a destination. That could well be me in May 2022. My first ever flight to Malaga is scheduled for 7:05 in the morning. So a 4 or 5 am start. So as the sun is about to come up I will be on my way to the airport for the flight.

Great report! Bob was an engineer at Jet2, which is why they named it after him. Window blinds are removed to reduce aircraft weight for performance reasons - otherwise you could find yourself or your luggage left behind. Disagree on legroom - it is one of the best out there thanks to Acro. Cup holder is meant for hot drinks from their snack bar service, so that they dont fall from your tray table etc. Jet2 don't do their own handling at NCL, but do provide their own stairs for Swissport to use. Great report none the less and cant wait to see more! :D

Thanks! I am due to fly Jet2 more in the future, including on their A330 in September from MAN-ALC, Coronavirus permitting obviously. I’ve also just booked NCL-FAO and back with them in Summer 2021 and if their 757s survive these uncertain times I will be seeking them out in the Winter if there are reasonable prices, most likely it would be on the GNB-MAN route.

@@NewcastleFlyer Great! I know the A332 are both back for the Newark flights, but not sure when exactly they are due to return. Hopefully soon! At the current point, the 757s are due to stay until 2023/24, apart from a couple which are due to go for scrap. Sounds great enjoy! :D

I agree, the price was amazing and it is the sole reason that I picked this trip otherwise I would most likely have gone elsewhere. November tends to be a cheap month to fly and £40 for a 4.5 hour flight is very reasonable in my opinion. I can’t wait to be back in the sky either. The sooner the better.

So since 2010 I have flown Jet2 15 times onboard the 737-300, 737-800 and 757-200. 9 of these flights err booked as flight only, 2 flights were booked as a work trip and 4 flights were booked as Jet2 Holidays. Some of my criticisms are subjective and others are not. We will start off with the subjective ones first: -I find the seat to be hard and uncomfortable -I don’t like the small tray table -I don’t like the small arm rests -I don’t like the lack of a window blind -I find some of the staff to be unprofessional -I find some of the planes to be in poor conditions internally -They claim to be “low cost” but the vast majority of the time are not the cheapest option -I think they charge too much for extras like seat selection Now these are the non subjective reasons: Of the 15 Jet2 flights I have taken, over half have been delayed by 1+ Hour. On one occasion I flew Jet2 on a 737-300 from Newcastle to Chambéry and back in 2016. The flight there was 3 hours late (a delay longer than the flight itself) and the flight back was 2 hours late. During this time Jet2 provided no information at all about why we were delayed and the staff were extremely unhelpful. We kept in the gate at Newcastle on the flight out and on the flight back we weren’t allowed into the airport terminal. Jet2 apologised at no point for the delay. On another occasion in 2010 onboard a 757-200 on a flight from Rhodes to Newcastle they lost our seat reservations and this was a problem as there were young children in the booking meaning that legally we needed to sit together (we did pay for seat reservations!) The staff were very slow and unhelpful when it came to rectifying this issue. Fortunately though it was fixed eventually. In 2017 I was flying Jet2 back from Heraklion to Newcastle on a 737-800 and there was an issue at online check in with the flight home. We were able to check in online for the outward flight but not the return flight. Jet2 charge more for airport check in so checking in online was certainly preferable. After using the live chat function on the website the person on the other end of the chat claimed that they would alert Heraklion airport and get this issue sorted. I got to Heraklion airport and Jet2 had lost the entire booking! After 75 minutes on the phone to Jet2 from Crete they managed to find our booking but this certainly caused a large amount of irritation after a week away on holiday. The flight then had a 30 minute delay and the outward flight had a 90 minute delay. ------------------- Fortunately for me in Newcastle there are alternatives and personally I prefer the likes of TUI and Thomas Cook. My last flight with Jet2 was actually alright and I only took it to fly on the 737-300 before they phased it out from Newcastle and because it was at an unusually low price of just £31 from Newcastle to Alicante (in January). I also prefer the likes of Ryanair and EasyJet. I know lots of people who really like Jet2 and swear by them and that’s fine. I just disagree. When I first flew Jet2 you were able to hire tablets to watch IFE on and the planes were in a better condition. Maybe my expectations are too high but I just feel now they are not an airline I would choose to use.

You say Thomas Cook! Do you have a review of them. I have personally only flew Ryanair once and Jet2 9 times 5 times NCL to Faro and 4 times FAO to NCL! I really liked Ryanair but j prefer jet2

FT Minton and HarMin10 No. I don’t have a review of Thomas Cook since I have not flown with them for 6 years. My last Thomas Cook flight was Antalya-Newcastle on an A321 in August 2014.

Nice video! For me, I would always choose TUI over Jet2, I think TUI's product is a lot better for short haul, especially their 757! I am booked on the 757 to Faro in September so hopefully it goes ahead

Thanks and I agree about TUI. I find them to have a better onboard experience and in my experience better holidays too. Hopefully your trip on the 757 to Faro should go ahead, I’m on the Jet2 757 to Alicante in September myself as I originally booked the Jet2 A330 but got swapped. Though I personally haven’t flown on TUI’s 757, their 737 and 787 products are good.

Newcastle Flyer yeah TUI are my favourite by far. The thing I don’t like about Jet2, is all the pre recorded announcements, find them cheesy and very impersonal. Try to get on tui’s 757, it’s amazing! the 737 on TUI actually has window blinds to 😉

Samuel Knight The Problem with TUI in this regard is that you don’t find out your aircraft type until 90 days prior to your flight so booking a 757 is difficult. They also tend to be really expensive on flight only bookings too. If the 757 flew from NCL I’d definitely try for it though!

Personally I think Jet2.com have a great product, amazingly friendly crew, good routes, fair prices and great cabin service. The only hold up of more than 15 minutes I’ve experienced was due to a pax, a female in her fifties having to be offloaded for being drunk, and vomiting even before the doors were secured.
