If you paid someone to vote ... how can you know how the person voted for ...

if you knew what democracy was, this question would be silly. but, as the people are clients and consumers, civilians but not citizens: there is a little logic in paying for an opinion. it prevents unpleasant surprises in the life of the elite. or at least reduces the possibility of surprise revolt. a citizen doesn't need to be paid: if he has an interest in the subject of a referendum or initiative, he will vote, even if it's raining. of course, cow people might well take the money and report a false opinion.

I like the privet gain argument. But every vote leaves someone in gain. If their choice in nomination follows through on a socially voted city plan or job creation, structure etc. Paying people should be in land housing eight billion people by x square miles? people that don’t like voting get to live somewhere nice and hippy like. If everything works well and robots take over. 😂😂😂

Excellent, another opportunity to see which distinguished economist is going to make him/herself look like an out-of-touch jackass this time. A real highlight of the series so far has been some guy defending the right to maintain segregated businesses. I have to say, however, that I sincerely think the presenter is great. Often times his brief interjections or discussion questions leave me wanting to just hear him lecture at length on the issue at hand.

Yea, its funny how they only present two choices libertarian or liberal progressive and they exclude Marxist and Socialist voices. Liberalism is supposed to be pluralistic. Yet there are no labor or socialist parties in the US. That really demonstrates that liberalism is not very liberal at all. What are liberals scared of do you think, real fundamental change?

We should start by making voting a constitutional right.

This video is superficial, it totally misses the point. Paying or penalizing people in regards to voting isn't even a bandaid on the problem. They don't ask "why don't people vote?". The problem is you shouldn't be voting unless you want to. No one should just be going in because they want some money, and if that money is there you KNOW people will do it. This video is missing the real problem, WHY aren't people voting? Because there is so much misinformation that people don't even know where to learn the truth. Yes you can find it if you look hard enough, but most people get too overwhelmed. Thankfully they can still tell the media that gets shoved down their throats on tv isn't reliable, but we need to teach people how to be aware and actually educate them, instead of putting them in a prison till they're 18 where they have you cram for subjects that you'll forget in a month. The educational system in this country has been destroyed, and now it's nothing more than a propaganda machine. People want to be informed but don't know how to be, they want to know how to be politically active but don't know how to be, and they want an option that represents them but there isn't one, everyone in this country WOULD vote if they had all three of these. The entire country would vote if someone represented them, and they would be EXCITED to vote in that case. This video is completely pointless, why would someone waste their time with this. I also think having everyone taught some sort of art would help because creative thinking is what we need in this country. You can really get a good idea of how decrepit a society is on the inside by the quality of the arts, and right now everyone is a rip off of everyone else. The artists of today are completely indistinguishable from one to the other. It's a product of putting profit over craft, profit over the expression of oneself, profit over showing the world you have an opinion.
