I think the cutting onions part was him seeing her "cry" and thinking she's sad cause she misses me and wants me back and her saying that "it's just your fantasy and you see what you want to see and I'm not crying because of you anymore."...It's like he wants her after it's over and he's got someone else and he's the one who can't let her go, not the other way around... It's clever because most songs that have this "longing for someone" vibe tend to show or talk about the woman wanting her long lost love back and dreaming of him, but in this one he wants her back and dreams of her and it's from his perspective mostly and she's saying, "No man, the time has passed! I know you want me cause I'm all that, but you are acting like you moved on and you lost a good thing and you're just torturing yourself dreaming about it."..."LA TOTURA!
