How to Make Your First Automaton

Inspired by the Exploratorium "Cardboard Automata" curriculum.
Materials include: cardboard, 6mm foam, bamboo skewers, paper fasteners, drinking straws, and hot glue.

Very nice. Just made it myself. I figured out you can add more cams to the box and make multiple figures move up and down at different rates. If you replace the pistons circle with a longer more rectangular base the accent and decent is more smooth however you lose the spinning affect

back in the 90s we did an automaton project, we didnt know what we were doing tho or what it was called. i like the game ones where you win or lose, they could get pretty extensive.
