A video showing the method of transferring a casualty from a moving RNLB to a Coastguard or RAF helo. This method is called a High Line transfer. A weighted bag is attached to a line and lowered from the helo. The line is then attached to the winch line by the helo crew. Once the winch line is on the deck of the Lifeboat, this can be attached to the casualty who is then raised off the deck. The casualty is under a greater degree of control as the High Line removes them spinning due to down draft from the rotors.
With thanks to Solent CG Helo and her crew for assisting in this exercise.
