Mayo was cerebral and everything, but Spikes brought an attitude that you can't coach. Hightower was a blend of the two, and rose up in the biggest moments. Take note that the two years they didn't win the super bowl from 2014-2018 that Hightower was out in the playoffs. Stopped Lynch on the goal line. Strip sacked Matt Ryan. Seeing Gronk catch a 15 yard pass and have 3 backs jump on his back and then carry them another 20 yards before they could get him down, IF they did, was awesome! And he had great hands. Rarely dropped a ball. Plus when he was younger, he had a great first step. One step and he was close to top speed. And it was deceiving. He didn't look fast until you realize he could outrun some defensive backs.

Brady and Jordan, people always talk about their insanely competitive nature, and desire to win. While this is definitely true, Jordan was a freak athlete and Brady had an incredibly strong arm. If you watch his throw at the end of Super Bowl 42 on 3rd down to Randy Moss, although it fell incomplete, Brady launched it from his own 15 yard line standing on the right hash all the way to the Giants 17 between the sideline and the left hash. “That’s like 65 yds, not that crazy from an NFL QB.” Nuh, nuh, nuh, no, he threw it from the right hash across the field beyond the left hash, which adds another 6 yards (hash to hash) + 12 (halfway between hash and sideline) That throw traveled close to 90 yards. Brady didn’t have the Mahomes, Rodgers mobility to throw a bomb while rolling outside the pocket, but his ability to maneuver, maximize time and space within the pocket was unreal. Brady had an unbelievably strong arm to go along with his intensely competitive nature.

I remember watching Brandon Spikes. Man, he was born in the wrong era. If he was around in the 80s or 70s he could have been a hall of famer (not saying he would have or it would be likely... but i could see it being possible). He hit as hard as anyone I've ever seen and was that nasty against runs, particularly ones up the gut. Sadly pass defense wasn't his strength.

Brandon Spikes is one of the rare few players who can say he absolutely leveled Lynch in the backfield on multiple occasions... so it's funny to hear Gronk, all world level blocker, didn't even want any of that smoke lmfao.

@billdover3165 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, he doesn't have to tell people who he is just because you know him by sight. But he does because the greatest of all time in the NFL sphere anyway probably wants to keep it in the back of his mind while he was playing that he went through a lot to even get drafted let alone play.. treat others the way you want to be treated in even if it was a joke from him it's still shows that he keeps the humility and which we have seen from the man his entire NFL career in the back of his mind.
@tommyfu9271 Жыл бұрын
it doesn't even seem like it was a joke from him- as you said he knows what it's like to be nobody in camp. Some guys might find it amusing bc they know who he is but he does it to show them respect and put them at ease a little.
@Issblodh Жыл бұрын
I think it has more to do with his upbringing and basic etiquette. When you come into a room and there is someone you don’t know and you’re not being introduced, you introduce yourself.

its not about introducing himself as tom, because the others dont know, its to build a personal connection with every guy on the roster, and let the new guys know that they can talk to him like with everybody else.
