Ngl on paper giving SANADA the world title and surrounding him with a faction of older wrestlers who’ve never really achieved much in NJPW I just assumed we were gonna end up in a situation similar to Naito’s first reign where the company’s guy gets rejected by the fans. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the act and hope it works out, bringing the other members some success as well.

I mean, the only veterans here are Nobu and Taka. Taichi and SANADA are in the same position (or timeline) as Okada or Naito and Douki is relatively the youngest. So yeah, they still have much to offer.

@@AngellishV what? My point was more these are undercard to lower midcard guys with most of them already having reached their peak. Two out of four doesn’t invalidate my point, but I’d argue it was 3. Taichi is 8 years older than sanada and in his early 40s and been with New Japan for nearly two decades. How is he not a vet? He should begin to decline in the next few years especially given fitness and workrate haven’t always been his strong suit. Not sure how you can call nobu a vet, but not Taichi, despite him only being 3 years older. I also wouldn’t use the Okada and Naito comparisons. As again Okada is nearly a decade younger and already established as a top guy. The same already established point also sits for Naito, as although he’s admittedly only three years younger instead of nearly ten, he’s been considering his retirement for a while now, meaning if anything Naito’s timeline would suggest Taichi is riddled with injuries, past his best and on the verge of hanging up the boots. And douki is a weird case. In all honesty I hope I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure he’s been earmarked as a reliable but unspectacular junior guy. So someone who will have a few junior tag reigns and maybe the singles belts if he gets lucky and the division is bare again in a few years (a bit like the position nobu has filled)

Nobu, however, join House of Torture, and replacing him is Uemura. Oh, and Sanada is still trying to take back his title after he lost it to Naito.

This theme song slaps so hard. Way too catchy, so easy for the domestic fans in Japan to clap along to the theme at a sold out Korakuen Hall. Almost sounds like a collaboration of Jim Johnston (the old WWF theme maker) with the traditional puroresu heroic themes. Well done.

To say he left wwe riddled with injuries he’s had an amazing career that many in the west won’t know. He made his own promotion which is still running to this day and won belts in numerous promotions in Japan. NOAH, DDT, AJPW, NJPW and hell even the short lived revival of FMW, weirdly I’m pretty sure Michinoku Pro (and dragon gate) are the only current well known non-joshi promotions he hasn’t won a belt in.

I was really happy for sanada when he won the title... But ever since then, hes been really passively aggressive. About how much better he thinks he is than everybody else. He likes to do his little hand thing. Where it shows how he thinks he is on another level from his opponents..He does it in almost every match hes in. It's almost like he forgets that. For the first like 95% of his career, he was a bum who didn't live up to expectations. Hes still not very good on the microphone. Hes scared to talk... That's why he invites taichi out to talk for him when he wins the main event of whatever show he is on. I'm just saying, earn your stripes a little bit more. Before you start acting like you are the best wrestler in the world. Because you're champion all of a sudden. He's not even the leader of his own group and he's the world champion...lol
