This is how I thought about this MV. New Jeans and Heesu were a group of friends in the past. As you can see Heesu is wearing a cast on her left arm, they got a car accident and only Heesu could survive so she is seeing hallucination of her friends(New Jeans). If you look close into what one of the member scribbles on her cast, it says '죽지마' which means 'don't die'. The boy in the MV might be worried of Heesu talking and filming sth that deosn't exist. I believe they used a deer to metaphor for Heesu herself being left alone from a group (Deers are social animals and live in groups). These MVs are so great I can't stop watching them over and over again 🥲

Love this concept...I think she was good friends during their trainee days and she devoted all her time to them. but then they eventually left the school and debuted and she was alone. She was in denial so she continued to pretend they still existed and continued to do what she used to do with them. But she eventually had to face reality...with the help of the guy. She had to let them go...she destroyed the camera to let her memories fade in time. Now she can go back and rewatch the videos she took of them and remember them fondly...

The girl (Heeseo) is like a Y/N, she represents us (bunnies), that’s why we can’t see her face to identify as her more easily. A Side MV shows all the good times she has with NewJeans, from her POV she was not alone since she had the members. At the end of the MV WE see that she is in reality all alone, and that she’s not interacting with people around her (like the guy). B Side MV shows Heeseo who is slowly starting to detach herself from NewJeans, (she’s not filming the girls anymore, she’s watching from afar and later she broke the camera). She’s realizing that the girls are not physically with her, and she prefers to spend time with the guy she likes. At the end, (since the start of the MV (A Side) actually) she was watching the memories she made with NJ. Also if you wonder why from other’s POV she was alone, but we can actually see the girls in the video tape, it’s because all the time she cared only about the members was not wasted. She can actually cherish the memories she had with them forever, and remember them for the rest of her life. And at the very end the girls are coming back saying "it’s been a long time we haven’t been there" because Heeseo grew up and stopped focusing on them. But the memories of the old time with NJ are coming back, and the girls will always be there if Heeseo needs them.

@@dittoluv as much as I like that theory, I still think it makes more sense that she they're a friend group and she lost them in an accident, hinted at by her cast. They were 110% real and present with her in the recordings, but in the "present" she's remembering them and can't move on. She breaks the camera to begin her process of moving on, which is why in Side B we start seeing the members dancing with no faces, and Heesoo finally walking away from them. She is older in the final scene, finally looking back at their memories after growing up and living her life.

But yeah we will never know unless NJ explain it. Both MVs are so cool! I think that the camera and the footage on the tv are memories of the girl (6th) with the NJ members, and her dropping the camera could be a sign of her letting the memories go and moving on which is why there’s a scene of her and the boy walking together. Watching this MV a couple of times and reading that the actress represents us bunnies, my running theory is that this MV represents our relationships with NJs in an abstract artistic sense. Like how us fans are watching New Jeans, supporting them and growing and spending time with them, they are here as well with us in our best and worst times, providing us with entertainment, healing and company. Sometimes things might change and we might have different priorities (represented by the girl going with the guy), and we may put New Jeans aside for a while, but they will always be here for us and supporting us, and whenever we return we can expect that they will be here waiting for us with open arms.

I read on another KZbinrs reaction in the comments they said something along the similar lines but instead they also emphasized that the girl chose to live in reality. The relationship she had with new jeans was keeping her from fully making relationships and from being able to fully live her life, hence she dropped the camera and went on to be with the boy. I think this might represent that in the end of the day we are just listeners we can enjoy and listen to their music but when we start to associate ourselves as more of that, we may forget to live our own lives as well. When you meet a deer there is a meaning that it represents being present in your life, or going back into a path that allows you to live life fully in this moment. So her meeting that deer outside and in the hallway could be a representation that although she was enjoying her time with NewJeans she was not living in reality, and at the end when she’s able to welcome NewJeans back into her life, she’s able to do it in a way that is healthy, a way that allows her to live her own life while enjoying the art and music that NewJeans share

From what I can get, the newjeans members are the girl's friends who presumably passed away in an accident with her but she's the only survivor with her wounded hand, but the girl still feels them around, that's why the other students can't see them. The girl's name, Ban Hee Soo, is a fun expression of bunnies' Korean pronunciation and symbolizes fans. Like a girl who watches members on a video camera, fans watch TV or KZbin videos, and the boy represents real problems (academic, employment), and the wind and rain mean trials. They support each other, but in the eyes of those around them, idols are only seen as otaku. Throwing away the camcorder means quitting fan activities, and as Minji said, the scene of looking at the deer from afar expresses the distance between fan and idol. For me, the way I interpret the MVs is that Heesoo is “us,” fans of NewJeans (or fans of K-pop idols in general). I think the MVs show how us fans use K-pop or look to K-pop idols for comfort or as something fun to look upon, especially in times where we go through hard times in our lives (like how Heesoo presumably breaks her arm, and she gets it signed by NewJeans, or when she has fun filming and observing them while also observing her crush).And then at the end Heesoo is older looking back on her times when she enjoyed watching NewJeans, with NewJeans coming into the room. I the ending shows that no matter how time has past NewJeans or K-pop in general will always be there, and that fans can always look upon them for that comfort and fun. That’s my theory!

I'm 66, my dad was an operatic tenor, I grew up with 3 older brothers at a time when the Beatles came on the scene -- I remember watching the puzzled look on my dads face as my older sister writhed on the floor while watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. My influences were hard rock and classical and most definitely NOT pop. So, imagine my surprised when, about a month ago, I discover this group and am immediately stunned at the quality of the vocals. I liked Intention and Hype Boy but nothing prepared me for Ditto. Let me express my thoughts on it: Side A starts with the old school VHS thing and then a subtle piano comes in with a haunting, descending motif. This the leads into the introduction of the guy in the BG and as they drink from the sink the song proper starts with the haunting, descending "woo hoo woo hoo" followed by the most beautiful vocals from Hanni -- on my first listen this part simply blew me away, her voice is unbelievable. I kind of lost myself at this point and on the second listen (side B) the part that blew me away was when Hyein came in with her insanely beautiful pre-chorus -- so effortlessly beautiful. Through additional listening's, particularly with line distribution, I was once again blown away by Danielle's distinctive and gorgeous voice that has a hint of breathiness and Haerin and Minji's voices are also beyond any normal notion of beauty. I can hardly believe what I'm seeing and hearing from them. That they are ALL insanely pretty is maybe the least surprising thing given the nature of kpop, but the two that floor me are Danielle and Minji -- two of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen and the other three are also insanely pretty. Lightening in a bottle!

I saw some comments in the video that the girl suppose to represent us bunnies and how the girl is a fan of NJ but grew out NJ (either cause of love life or life in general) and sometime in the future she's reminiscing of how she used to love NJ. As a big fan of New Jeans as well as an old man from 70's, New Jeans is all about Korean 90's. Let's see. Adidas Superstar, Picnic(apple drinks), 매점(a small shop in school), a boy & girls's glance at the tap water in the schoolyard, and almost everything and scenes are from 80-90's Korean movie and cartoons as known as "순정만화". I don't think every New Jeans fans would understand the story 'cause they are neither from Korea nor 90's, but you guys know those are still beautiful.

I have a theory, the camera girl went in a deep depression till the point she's still in denial and kept lying to herself, which led her to lost completely sense of reality cuz she lost her friends (NewJeans) in an accident, that's why the arm cast and everybody is kinda concerned about her, but they don't want to take proper action cuz, as I know, Koreans doesn't like to interfere in other persons problems and the only person who really wants to reach her is the guy, that maybe has liked her even before the accident so that's why he keeps looking for her in a way from afar. And the new video tapes she first saw in the side A mv kept showing her the reality she's in, so that's why she threw the camera in the side B mv where everything started making sense. AND the last video she saw was the original one where her friends (NewJeans) DID appeared, and is stored in a box cuz is part of her treasured memories and now she can see it with nostalgia cuz she came to accept her loss and is capable to move on and thats why she is seen walking with the guy at the end, he maybe helped her getting through all of the grief and denial. The deer can represent two things a non-confrontational personality (side A) that happens to be her looking at herself in the white scenario or could be an observational, empathetic, and sympathetic side of someone who could represent the guy (Side B) that's why it appeared in the school where he always is watching her with concern. @dinosaur yes! Like they are part of the delusion she's trying to keep to cope with the loss of her friends. There's a few scenes where NewJeans are beside her and watching her like in the front door of the school and it's raining, at first it shows like a memory of them running in the rain super happy, but then jumps to her walking alone in the rain with the umbrella closed in her hand, while NewJeans see her with sad faces cuz they can't follow her beyond the door cuz they only live in the school as part of her memories (side A). And then it jumps to another scene where she finally walks alone but with an open umbrella, and NewJeans dissappear. Like telling us she already came to terms with herself that they aren't with her anymore, like she's starting to move on (side B).

My interpretation of this MV is that all NewJeans were Heesoo's imaginary friends. She sees them through VCR thing. One day Heesoo noticed the Yoo Ah-In lookalike boy while she was filming her imaginary friends. This somehow brought her back to the real life. She decided to leave her imaginary friends and have a relationship with a real person. Hence, she dropped the VCR from the rooftop and walked into the rain without waiting New Jeans members. In the final scene of side B, Something might happen to grown-up Heesoo(broken-hearted) made her decide to watch those old VCRs. The girls were saying they haven't been getting in the place for so long which also means they haven't been with Heesoo for so long. She might really be the sixth member. If she's just an random actress, they wouldn't have to hide her face.

In Heesoo's eyes, NewJeans are best friends and she always holds a cam to capture NewJeans' moments. ❄ However, at the end of the MV, we are seen from the perspective of other classmates. What Heesoo saw was not real. When the MV ended, there was a segment where Minji suddenly smeared the legs (lower body) of the drawing. Hypothetically, ghosts will not have legs so Minji's smearing could be a sign that NewJeans is not real ❄ In the MV side B, Heesoo played the old tape again to review the footage she had taken and recall the happy memories with NewJeans. Then there are 3 hypotheses to be put forward: 1 is that Heesoo has no friends so she imagined NewJeans to be her friend 2 is NewJeans is ghost 3 is both Heesoo and NewJeans are friends but there was an accident (Heesoo injured her hand) and Heesoo was obsessed about it so she always imagined NewJeans. I guess now after 3 weeks you already know what were the MVs about, but if not I'm telling it. It's about the relationship between fans and idols, they don't know you but they comfort you and you don't know them in real life but you feel them near to you, like friends, their music it's with you but sometimes a fan goes so into a group that they don't go forward on their real life social interactions and relationships, so the Side B it's about Heesoo being able to let them go to make her own life and keep going, that's why she could be with the guy she liked. Also Park Jihu here plays the role of Ban Heesoo and if you say it fast it sounds pretty similar to Bunnies (fandom's name). In the last part we can see a grown-up Heesoo going back to the past looking at the tapes (memories) and she felt again comforted, the girls are the same age as back in the days because music never ages, and music generally is attached with memories from the times you listened to it so it throws you back in time. how i interpreted it was that she was part of the friend group, she got into a relationship as we see she started to get interested in the guy in the mv, and that made her drift away from her friends. and this is very common in high school when you dont know what a healthy relationship is yet and you think you have to be with them all the time and thus you begin to neglect your friends. in the beginning of the mv, she is still with the girls, she notices the guy and suddenly she no longer focuses her camera on her friends but on the guy she likes. and towards the end, she ignores the calls from her friends, meaning she starts neglecting her friendships but she still misses them. and then we see her walking away with the guy, meaning she is putting much more energy into that relationship but it makes her feel lonely now and we see that through the eerie shots of her filming nothing and her friends seemingly disappear. i think it aligns with the music too, a cutesy love song but with a more realistic mv. idk, i like everyone making creepy storylines like her friends are imaginary or her friends died but ador seems to not be into making a huge lore like that, it seems like they like simplicity and real life stories more, because their whole concept is youth and friendship. so i think them making a more realistic story seems more likely. and the eerie vibes i guess goes with the color theme as well. she feels lonely so the colors are gloomy as well.
