It honestly is amazing just how freaking great the storytelling in the HBK vs Alex Riley match was. The face-heel-dynamic was executed to perfection, I could practically hear the chorus of boos during HBK's assault with the replica belt, then Riley's apparent comeback after the Impaler DDT and the chair set-up, only for it to be interrupted by the Sweet Chin Music, HBK getting the Okada treatment with the camera zoom-out during his taunt, before utterly destroying Riley and getting the win. A simple story, seen thousands of times before in wrestling, yet still when it's executed to perfection, it will always pull you in, even in a video game.

As much as I understand the nL guys being sick of Universe Mode (because of how broken the game mode can be and boring at times) and they've got other good projects, their UM content is just peak wrestling gaming content. From the original streams in 2k14, to the Wrestlemania show in 2k18, to these more recent WWE '12 UM streams - this is just so fun to watch and follow. UM and Johnny playing Career Modes will forever be GOATed

A little story about this game: I found a copy of this game, Fallout 3, and LittleBigPlanet for the PS3 one afternoon after it had rained. I didn't think anything would be in except for a few empty cases (there was a PSP case and a case for a DVD version of Terminator Salvation), but when I picked up the Fallout 3 case and cracked it open, there it was: WWE 2K12, LittleBigPlanet and Fallout 3, all three barely scratched.
