I wasn't raised in a church but became an avid reader at a young age.When i started reading the New testament i remember thinking that it was the most beautifically written books i had ever read.Although i remember thinking that it was hard to understand and full of contradictions.Once i recieved the Holy Spirit baptism, got home and picked it back up to read i was startled that it had taken on much more depth and it was like i had a teacher( which i did) inside me explaining scriptures plainly that i thought were errors.

The only credible way to accurately critique the weaknesses and strengths in English versions us to compare them to the ancient texts from which they were translated. Fidelity should be to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. Tradition and human wisdom are not the bases upon which the assessment should be made.

I love videos like this one.. after researching all the passages you cited.. I found in many of them.. my KJV version had a cross reference to the word that the word KJV used was changed to mostly following the NKJV translation .. the interesting thing that I found is the passage Acts 17:22 which I believe was the first passage cited.. Upon researching this I found that the Greek word used in the Phrase "too superstitious.".. was "deisidaimonesterous.". which means Demon Dreading.......so what Paul was saying is that he could see they were fearful of Demons...hence some translators reviewed a fear of demons as being Pious.. or religious.... while others such as the KJV.. viewed this as fearfulness to the point of being suspect or superstitious.... The only reasoning I found for Paul possibly saying this to the ones on MARS HILL was to point them to God and away from their Idol worship...that being the case...I have to ask myself this.... Would Paul intend to slap the ones he was witnessing to over the Head with the truth?.. or try to present their error to them in a manner that would lift them up by flattering them slightly ...so they would listen to him and Not shut him out?. .I am not saying Paul was giving his approval .but....when I was knocking on doors.. trying to Evangelize.. years ago.. the quickest way to get the door slammed in my face was to insult the ones I was trying to win over to the Gospel...

There is a lot of material on KZbin discussing Bible versions, the majority of which makes little or no reference to one important factor - the work of The Holy Spirit. When you consider the importance of the Word, in fact, it is my understanding that satan knows the power and importance of the written Word more than most Christians. We should understand that satan has been effective in challenging the written Word over the centuries. There have been attempts to destroy the Bible, which have failed, and there are recent attempts to distort and twist the Word through the development of modern translations, largely on the basis that they are founded on older manuscripts. Recently, it has been my observation, as an itinerant teacher of God's Word, that the devil has also been very successful in seducing people away from the use of the Bible (the book) altogether. I visit many evangelical churches where people don't even carry a Bible into church anymore - this is a diabolical attack on the Word and it's importance. We live at a time of Smartphone dominance, the argument is that a Bible app is more convenient and lightweight and invariably used by people who don't actually read the book at home. Pastors wonder why there are so many defeated, broke, sick and depressed Christians in our churches. The answer is simple - no Word. My prayer is for a Word revival, and people will once again develop a love and a passion for God's Holy, precious, written Word. In cooperation with the person of the Holy Spirit - may revelation knowledge be released into the hearts and minds of God's people to feed the flock and set them free from their spiritual impoverishment. Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed through a lack of knowledge". As for me - I toggle between the King James Bible, the Modern English Bible, the New King James and the Amplified - all of which are based on the Textus Receptus.

The common explanation of why modern versions are "missing" words and verses is that they are not missing but that the KJV translators added to the scriptures. That sounds really good, but when I look at the verses in question I have to ask myself, Did the translators add these things? Really? If so, we don't have much of anything to stand on. The same with "changes"; the Holy Ghost is not the comforter but really the "helper", damnation is really "condemnation/judgment", hell is really "hades" (a place you can get out of in Greek mythology), in Is 9:6 Jesus is not called Wonderful, Counselor but really Wonderful-counselor (no comma); the list is endless of changes, omissions, sentence restructuring, differences in tenses, punctuation, etc. These all show a different God and doctrine from bible to bible. Yes, I believe you are right. Things that are different are NOT the same. Its no wonder, New Agers, Theosophists, Modernists, JW's and many more Anti-Christian groups all hate the KJV.

There are a lot of textual variants between the few Alexandrian type manuscripts and the voluminous Byzantine type manuscripts. Modern Translations tend to use the Alexandrian manuscripts because they claim that they are older. However, Tertullian and Clement cited John 1:18 as "only begotten Son" long before the Alexandrian Manuscripts were written. The Alexandrian texts say, "only begotten God (Theos)" rather than "only begotten Son." Thus, we have the historical evidence to show that "only begotten Son" is the proper scripture reading from the second and early third centuries while the Alexandrian manuscripts changed John 1:18 in the latter third and fourth centuries. I strongly suspect that the Alexandrian Manuscripts originated from the influence of Origen's school at Alexandria. Origen had taught against the Oneness (Modalistic) majority that the Son is "a second god" besides the Father. Hence, Origen would have taught that the Son is another "only begotten God" rather than the true God (the Father). From the context of Acts chapter 17, "Superstitious" looks like the best translation. NAS Exhaustive Concordance - Word Origin cptv. of deisidaimón (fearing the gods); from deidó (to fear) and daimón - Definition: very fearful of gods, religious, superstitious.
@NewLifeOfAlbanyGa7 жыл бұрын
That's right!
@landonadams81225 жыл бұрын
Actually, Irenaeus, writing about AD 180, long before Origen, applied the phrase "only-begotten God" to Jesus (quoted from A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs by David Bercot, p. 70). According to Bercot, this phrase was common among early Christians in reference to Jesus. "Only-begotten God" simply means "Son of God," pretty much (theos, the Greek word commonly translated "God" can also mean "deity" or "divinity") If one examines the quotations from the New Testament by the early Christians, you will find that the Western-Alexandrian variants existed even way back then in the early centuries. For example, in discussing the Lord's Prayer, some include the longer, Western ending ("For yours is the kingdom...") and others do not.

I do agree with Pastors response to you regarding the MEV... this translation is closer than most but Not as accurate as the KJV... I DISAGREE with his response to you regarding the KJVER.... the KJVER is exactly the the same as the KJV.. word for word... only the thee's, thou's, ye's, thine's.. etc..have been updated to how we speak today... and in regards to the contoversial verses like John 3:7.. where most other bibles use one word "YOU" as a substitute for both 'Ye" and "Thee" in the same verse.. the KJVER.. does Not.. .. it makes it clear to the reader.. what word should be where.. so there is absolurely no ambiguity.. as most bibles have... you will Not be disappointed with a KJVER.. Most of his comments are documented in the NKJV translation notes. Further, in many cases, not all, the NKJV offers a better translation of the Greek text. My primary translation is the KJV because overall, it is the most accurate especially in key Pentecostal texts (i.e Ehpe. 1:13-14).

The worst, worst, worst thing that the modern bible versions have accomplished or the critical text proponents have accomplished (or satan has accomplished) is to cast this enormous shadow of doubt upon the word of God. Not one of these scholars will or even can say that the word of God is inerrant and without flaw (except in the autographs) they say, without having ever seen the autographs! Laughable! All these years we’ve had this wonderful, beautiful, perfectly preserved King James Bible and yet they will claim “its flawed” “the KJV translators did the best they could with the limited, minuscule, resources they had but now WE have greater and earlier texts to translate from!” And wouldn’t you know it, they are DIFFERENT than the beloved King James. KJV is easier to memorize, due to the poetic nature, and flow. It is also easier sing, many praise songs, hymns come directly from the KJV text because of the poetic flow. The TR/Majority Text/Byzantine Text/Manuscripts consists of about 5,000 or so copies (this does not include ancient Bibles, or early Church Leaders/Fathers writings)! The Alexandrian’s type text-Wescott & Hort/Codex Vaticanus/Codex Sinaiticus are 3 manuscripts, which is less than 1%(.0006) of the so called manuscripts? The Wescott & Hort manuscript is corrupt as recorded by Jerome. When Jerome heard about the Alexandrian manuscript, he procured a copy, and compared it to the Antioch manuscript’s(He & all the pre- Nice-an Church Fathers only authorized Antioch manuscripts)! Jerome found the Book of Revelation 50 years after John penned it, and the rest of the NT he said was totally corrupt by the end of the 2nd to the 1st of 3rd centuries. So Jewish scribble protocols were invoked, and all known copies were destroyed(burned)! But due to the rebellion, and unrepentant hearts of the Alexandrian’s. One copy managed to survive, that is what Westcott & Hort discovered. They had the assumption that older must be better view? Then you have Vaticanus, which Erasmus was able look over, he said that it was created in his time, a fraudulent/fake! Sinaiticus was created by Constantine Simodes in the mid 1800’s, Constantine Tischendorf was money hungry liar. Dave Daniels at Chick Publications documents this, and also has documentation through an independent chemical test that the ink on the Sinaiticus is from the 19th century! Erasmus also documents that he had multiple dozens of manuscripts that were traced back to Antioch, not the handful that some have said. All the ancient western Bibles match the Majority Text family , they have all the missing verses, partial, and phrases that are not in the Alexandrian type text. Example is the Greek Orthodox Bible which is dated to the 2nd, and matches the KJV. So when reading scripture in English, they only use the KJV. The oldest Bible in the world is the Old Latin Bible, which dates from 90 AD to 130 AD. It was started by the Apostle John, and his disciple Poly Carp, and completed by Poly Carp, Irenaeus, and Tertullian. This matches the TR/Majority Text/Byzantine text, and the KJV!

Modern TR Bibles would be NKJV, KJV2000, KJV21, KJVER, MEV, and MLV. By the way the KJV isn't difficult to understand with a proper dictionary for certain word meanings. I'm so glad I don't read the additions and conflations in the Kjv. They aren't God's Word. We true Bible believers don't want statements in our bibles which were not in the original NT. Your kjv conflations add no truth to God's Word.
@NewLifeOfAlbanyGa3 жыл бұрын
Prove they’re conflations. Do you even know wher3 that theory originated?
@keithfuson76943 жыл бұрын
In Rom1:29 the word fornication is not found in God's Word. All modern bibles contain all of God's commandments against fornication. So stop misleading and implying falsehood.

I’m not.

Actually the the phrase " fighting against God " is in the modern bibles in acts 5:39.

The point I was making is that if modern translations were trying to omit these verses, they would have taken them all out. God bless.

The tendency of ancient scribes when corrupting documents was to remove words or letters; as little as possible, to bring in their particular possibility of meaning.
@guitarflame797 жыл бұрын
I don't find any changes in meaning that effect any basic christian truth. Texual criticism says the scribes had a tendency to add, not to delete scripture. When 1John 5:7 is only found in some late manuscripts about 1500 years after the fact, its pretty hard to accept that being original when there is no evidence for it. Either the Lord forgot to preserve that verse in all the majority of manuscripts or it is not supposed to be there. Obviously, the Lord didn't forget. The doctrine of the trinity does not hinge on that verse alone. And if the Greek says " judgement " in some verses than I want my bible to say " judgement ", not " damnation " which has different meaning. I would hope that you agree with that.
@NewLifeOfAlbanyGa7 жыл бұрын
Not true. Textual criticism shows deletions were the modus operandi unless you are reading some uniformed modern critics with an agenda. 1 John 5:7 is not missing in the majority of Latin manuscripts for example. Only a few Greek manuscripts before the 10th c bc would even have the potential for it. You need to see the review on Micheal Maynard's book on 1 John 5:7-8. The basic Christian truth that every Word of God is true, God would preserve jot and tittles, and forever is emasculated in modern Versions. God bless you my friend

No the correct translation is , we died together with Christ. Rom6:8 The kjv is wrong again. It's in the past tense. Of course since we died with Christ, then by implication we are dead with Christ. That's not too hard to figure out. Rom6:2 We who died to sin. Come on, get it right kjv.

Why do you think 47 top linguists who were vitally concerned with every word accuracy, would deliberately mistranslate this? Did they have an agenda?
@keithfuson76943 жыл бұрын
No agenda. Just God's truth. We died with Christ on the cross. If we died we are dead to the old man.

The Anglican translators were fallible and didn't.have many manuscripts and they did their level best. The errors if the kjv is many. I won't use the kjv.

@@rlyle5804 Certainly not the KVV.! I use the Concordant Version and I'm very happy with it. I reject orthodoxy and it's false doctrines and it's inconsistent discordant translations.

I would say more than errors - rather plain ol' deletions! It's like they're redacting the word of God.
@keithfuson76943 жыл бұрын
The modern versions are based on the most ancient accurate reliable manuscripts. The majority text us late and most of its manuscripts were written after 1000 AD. Also the TR and the majority don't even after in many places. The KJVi is a conflated text. The modern versions contain what was in the original Greek NT. It's wrong to add to God's Word. The modern versions contain all the words of God, all the narratives, all the truth, all the commandments, all the teachings , all the miracles inspired by God.
