Quick run of the Detroit 4-53T with its newly installed Jake Brake units before I reinstalled the valve cover. Mainly checking for oil leaks and that all clearances remained after the engine is shut down. The red (hi-temp) wire is used to energize the solenoid to allow oil to fill the Jake galleries, thus putting the Jake units into operation. Actual Jake operation was tested after the engine was buttoned up. The 'saddle' that is seen being pushed down on the injector rocker picks up the injector motion and hydraulically transfers that motion to the adjoining slave piston that pushes down on its exhaust rocker opening the corresponding valves. Oil pressure normally brings the 'saddle' down only during Jake operation.
