Kimmy Schmidt isn't the only one who is Unbreakable around here. Tituss Burgess, star of Tina Fey's new Netflix comedy, once again proves his vocal chords are completely inhuman with this gorgeous version of Almost Everything I Need, from Alphabet City Cycle by Georgia Stitt and Marcy Heisler. Which, by the way, was originally written for a soprano. Get it.

I've always thought that the ones who excel the most at comedy have a tremendous amount of pathos and emotion to draw from. Titus is so incredibly funny on shows and in interviews it would be easy to overlook how brilliant he is as an actor. I'm so glad that people are not sleeping on him!

I feel like this song is sort of a paradox. The lyrics depict a person who's trying to cope with a bitter break up with positivity but the hidden underlying emotion is solitude sadness. For instance, he keeps professing his positive attitude. Claiming that he's "finally free". But when he sings "... I have almost everything I need" in the end, it is behind a melancholic piano drive. This could reveal that he doesn't feel that way. Still yearning for the long lost love. Excellent song

I also feel a sense of fear. The subtitle for the song is "the divorcee of Avenue D". And so shes scared. Alone and on her own. It's such a nuanced song.
