The record reminds me of being accompanied by warmth when I was an awkward 17 year old, as if this band was my only friend in the world. The video reminds me of heroin withdrawals 17 years later in my mid 30's. Now I am in my mid 50's and at peace with God, the loneliness and restlessness gone forever. For me, New Order are the greatest band of all time.

True, but with context. Joy Division used to open for The Cure, and Three Imaginery Boys was released a year before Ian Curtis hanged himself in May of 1980, thus effectively ending Joy Division. New Order wasn't founded until 1980, four years after The Cure. So yes, no doubt each band influenced the other, but this isn't a case where one band came first and another reinterpreted the other. They were both part of the same scene.

New Order is timeless, but sometimes it's sad when you let yourself read the comments...huge debate over the meaning? Who cares. It means different things to different people, as art and music can and should. I watched it and thought tough breakup and at the end she's dancing it out. Yeah, that can be a thing, you're sad and depressed and realize you just need to do something fun...that helps you get over it and you start moving on. Anyway, that was what I got from the dance at the end, and don't really care if I'm officially right or wrong. Gen X is the whatever generation so pretty sure New Order's take on what meaning you find in this is just that.

My brother sent me the link and I was dreading some kind of Blue Monday 88 treatment had befallen on of my favourite NO songs of all time. I’m pleased that they really did just remaster the song and added a video. Not what they would have done back then but it’s not horrible. The video is relevant to today, which is fine. I was just in Liverpool, visiting my fiance for Christmas last week on Matthew Street in the midst of holiday night life and this song was blasting in one of the basement pubs! It brought back so many wonderful memories, whist I made new amazing ones!

What was in the water supply there in Manchester in the late 70s, early 80s that produced THREE phenomenal groundbreaking and timeless rock bands: JD/New Order; The Smiths: The Fall. Holy Jesus we still haven't fully realized what a gift was given to us!!!!!

Video is really cool, love the progression from small spasmodic movements during sleep to frenesic dance on an kind of abandonned parking lot. The song in itself , a timeless materpiece.

When I lived in Brooklyn, New York, there was some times where I'd listen to this on my phone and bounce in place while riding the subway.

A video which in my opinion truly catches the melancolic but happy expression of Joy Division. It screams of wanting to live, even if one must suffer in between.
