Jessi is thee best female rapper/singer in Korea hands down! She is the REALIST, she is herself unapologetically! She was born in New York 1988 and raised in New Jersey. She used to get into fist fights all the time in Jersey whenever she was bullied. She grew up listening to Biggie Smalls, Lauryn Hill, Little Kim, Foxy Brown and all Hip Hop RnB artists coming out of New York during that era. You can hear it in her voice and flow. She moved to Korea by herself when she was 15 to pursue her singing career. She didn't know how to speak Korean. Jessi become known when she was in a female Hip Hop reality show called "Unpretty Rapstar" she brought the real street New York vibe to the show. Nobody in Korea had seen anyone on a reality show like Jessi. She is open and honest about getting plastic surgery on her eyes, nose and breasts. She challenges all the Korean beauty standards of female K-pop artists having to be stick thin, pale white skin, conservative, dieting. Jessi loves her brown skin, curvy body, provocative style, says what's exactly on her mind, dresses the way she wants, eats what she wants and doesn't give a F what anybody thinks. She is well respected in the K-Hip Hop community, by Idols, actors, reality show hosts. When she says she runs this town, she was speaking facts. She has a low, husky, raspy, soulful rapping and singing voice. Unlike any voice in Korea. Usually most female idols have high pitched voices.
