i was hoping you were gonna tackle this. i was playing around with the standard surface material trying to get a working skin-texture, and i just couldn't get the right feel. this is great!
@NewPlastic10 ай бұрын
Yeah I think it can get a bit trickier if you're not used to that type of workflow, i have a feeling people who come from Arnold/Redshift/Blender will have a easier time with Octane's Standard Surface. Glad it helped!

Insanely good tutorial and prob the only one using the new shaders and depth tutorial on here. I would love see a tut on more advanced skin effects, like making realistic but weird looking skin that's dirty or that has blood or other stuff of such nature. Thanks a lotttt

This is very good! Will start playing with this material type. Also, a little related to what you showed here at the end, but Look-Dev resources are very scarce when it comes to Octane. A tutorial about creating a proper Look Dev rig and how to approach this process of testing texture consistency and realism would be awesome! In any case, thanks a lot for your content. You have no idea how much your procedural approach to texturing has inspired me (and challenged me) to get better. God bless you man!

Great Tutorial. Would be cool to see how appling this to alien like skin would look. Sure as hell would look sick on some creatures.

Yooo bro wanted to ask, do you know if there's any way to implement tension/wrinkle maps into a shader like this? I really want to animate with fine details, can't find a single resource on how to use those types of maps with octane..

How did you do the eyes?
@yungbuttermilch10 ай бұрын
I followed your earlier skin tutorials meticulously but this time it did not convince me tbh. There are all those oversaturated yellow areas around the mouth which makes it look like a healing bruise. Thanks for providing all your knowledge though. I really appreciate it!

No problem! There's an easy way to avoid it if you don't like it, simply don't up the contrast on the Albedo map. I actually prefer these weird these distortions but of course you don't want to overdo them. If you look at the 3dscanstore's renders of this model you can see they dont have that and they look really good but almost too perfect. Overall I definitely think the overall effect looks more convincing than the previous tutorial, just don't up the Albedo contrast if you prefer that. Appreciate you dude!
