Nick "The Bullet" and The bullet brigade take on the 2024 ABP Newport 10K.
The ABP Newport 10K will take place on Sunday 13 April in 2025, giving runners of all abilities the chance to enjoy the marathon atmosphere without having to complete the challenging 26.2 mile distance.
It race forms part of the R4W 10K Series, which also includes the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K, Ogi Porthcawl 10K and CDF 10K.
Standing at the gateway between England and Wales and surrounded by stunning scenery, Newport covers a geographical area of just over 73.5 square miles and is vibrant, forward-thinking and steeped in a rich industrial heritage.
Newport is a multi-cultural city, where traditional industries and public sector sit alongside global leaders in technology and financial services.
Over 2.69 million people visit the city annually and it boasts a growing reputation for sporting, national and international events. Highlights have included The Ryder Cup, NATO summit, Olympic and Paralympic training camps, Wales Velothon, Tour of Britain and the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon.
The city has undergone one of the most significant regeneration programmes in the UK and continues to drive forward generational changes and new opportunities. Investment in the city could reach £2 billion by 2020.
A transformed city centre is vibrant and welcoming, while nature is also on your doorstep with Sites of Special Scientific Interest including the Gwent Levels, and Newport Wetlands Nature Reserve.
Newport’s location and access also adds to its appeal. The arterial M4 motorway linking from the M5, intercity rail connections and coaching links all feed into the city.

The ABP Newport Marathon Festival will return for 2024 on Sunday 28 April. New for 2024 - the event has been expanded into an exciting festival of running with marathon, half marathon, 10K and junior race options.
The popular race is a firm favourite on the Welsh running calendar, boasting one of the flattest marathon courses in Europe. Over 70% of all finishers have claimed a PB on a route that offers iconic landmarks, like the city’s Transporter Bridge and the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels - with its coastal wildlife and picturesque medieval villages. For those keen to improve their time over 26.2 miles, the course has been named in a list of ‘10 of the fastest marathons in the world’ by Runners World.
The fast and fun supporting half marathon and 10K races give runners of all abilities the opportunity to experience the marathon atmosphere, without committing to the challenging 26.2-mile distance.
Newport is definitely a city on the rise, steeped in history with a multi-cultural vibe - complete with artisan breweries and a rich musical heritage. Races start and finish on the vibrant riverfront in the heart of the regenerated city-centre, where runners can expect electric atmosphere and a high-level of event organisation alongside a warm Welsh welcome.
The event is delivered by R4W, the team behind events like the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon and has been made possible by the support of Associated British Ports and Newport City Council.
The route for the ABP Newport 10K has been devised by double Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace.
The race will start and finish in the heart of the city on Usk Way, kick-starting with a loop of the city centre and historic Commerical Street - including many listed buildings dating from the Victorian period.
The course will include a loop of Newport’s International Sports Village, which is home to the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome, Newport Stadium and Dragon Park - and even take in a part-lap of the athletics track!
The race will conclude with views of the historic Transporter Bridge ahead of a sprint finish back to the city-centre along Usk Way.
It adds an exciting extra dimension to the ABP Newport Marathon, giving runners of all abilities the chance to be a part of one of Wales’ largest weekends of running - without having to complete the challenging marathon distance.
