Newport 2001

Whilst there may have been a lack of Class 37's there was no shortage of Freight with Class 60's predominant on Wagonload, Steel, Oil and Scrap workings. Right at the end of this clip is the astonishing sight of a loaded MGR train passing Southampton which was heading from the Western Docks to Didcot Power station which was seen on my way home

Those were the days Steve, still plenty of freight and plenty of tugs to pull them. Newport a shadow of what it was now. Great footage Steve and incidentaly, i have just uploaded one from your neck of the woods, Eastleigh in 1988. Take a look if you have some spare time. All the best, Colin.

Cheers Colin. Have just watched the Eastleigh clip, very enjoyable. Can recall getting some haulage behind those ED hauled trains whilst the REPs were having their Traction motors ripped out and slung under the 442's. Now whatever happened to them?!!
