Lazerhawk basically took every movie they loved from the 80's and made a track. Brilliant Stuff: Built to Kill - Terminator Chinatown - Bloodsport Mad Max 2 - King of the Streets Etc. The connections to all those movies are obvious and it makes the songs that much more interesting and well done.

Imagine if this was in Hotline Miami 2. I hope the map creator lets you import your own music.
@Skillet989 жыл бұрын
Nightmare Unfortunately, I doubt it will. I mean, it COULD... but I could see them not allowing it based on some copyright infringement crap. If they don't allow it, hopefully they had the foresight to license a lot of other music that you'll be able to select for your levels. I know there were a lot of songs on the Hotline Miami and HLM2 soundtracks that weren't actually present within the games.
@aaronmarko9 жыл бұрын
Kevin Walter there are lots of games that let you import your own music. as long as you aren't distributing music you don't have the rights to i don't see why it would be a problem. depending on the framework for reporting copyright infringement (and there should be some way to do so) i think it would be a great addition. that said, any time you have user-made content you have to concern yourself with copyright infringement. really, anywhere you can import content you have to worry about it. you want to hear a story about copyright infringement that is absolutely ridiculous? yes you do. alright, so city of heroes was slammed with a copyright infringement suit thanks to their character editor. apparently you would be able to design characters similar to marvel designs. like, afaik you weren't even able to import stuff. just edit pre-existing costumes. that's how much you have to watch out for it sometimes. anyway, if you're in a band i can actually see it being a great way to get some free press. you make a hotline miami 2 level and include some of your songs. the music industry is pretty dog-eat-dog and you have to do whatever you can to catch peoples' attention now.
@Skillet989 жыл бұрын
aaron marko Yeah. People get really weird with music sometimes. Like how Bethesda has an embargo on music from their past games. You're not allowed to distribute mods that include that music. You can use all of the visual aspects of those previous games you want... just don't you dare put that Morrowind music in Skyrim!
@aaronmarko9 жыл бұрын
Kevin Walter for a lot of corporations especially, intellectual property law is akin to "use it or lose it". like, let's say they let ONE thing slip through. something really innocuous like using morrowind music in skyrim. it is literally nothing that is going to actually cost them money. but what it does is set a precedent that other people will probably be able to leverage in court against them. now, i'm not saying it definitely would be used against them, but in their defense it's better to err on the side of caution and protect what's theirs rather than risk that someone will use that precedent against them in court. when you're dealing with big franchises like the elder scrolls, the risk is even greater. because you have no idea what effect that precedent might have on your future legal cases. it might wind up costing you tens of millions of dollars or giving up an entire IP like the elder scrolls because you simply didn't defend your copyright to the full extent of the law.
@Zyphet9 жыл бұрын
Kevin Walter The music might be partially owned by the composers and they are protecting the rights of the contracted musicians. The 3D artists work for the company so they probably don't care as much if it gets used in mods, but its a different story when it comes to contracted work if they don't fully own the rights.

It's like the 1980's met the 1860's and had a butt baby called the 2010's who was sort of a hipster but had a good enough taste in music and really enjoyed the song "Monster Mash" while growing up to the tunes of Rob Zombie coupled with old Addams Family re-runs and two decades worth of synth-pop. This is the result. Bathe in the music. Bathe in it.

@SlamifiedBuddafied9 жыл бұрын
ComatoseFly The irony here is that I've never owned any Nintendo product (barring a GameBoy Color for Pokemon). I do find it amusing however that you've deducted gaming in particular. That being the case, I only have one thing to tell you and one of the most overused memes among a certain variety of people. There are twenty-seven words in your comment. 2 - 7 = -5 Half life 2: Episode 2 came out 5 years ago and 5 years is approximately 1800 days. 1 + 8 + 0 + 0 = 9 9 / 3 = 3 Half Life 3 confirmed.
@ComatoseFly9 жыл бұрын
SlamifiedBuddafied No irony at all. And I've deducted gaming because this synth and atmosphere driven music is very, very familiar. Even David Raposa (the graphic artist for whom this music was written) in his preview for Skull and Shark (the comic for which this album was written) starts it off with 'Dave Raposa' written in the same font as the old Sega logo. Simple arithmetic, 2 + 2 = 4. I don't get your arithmetic, but then again I've never played Half Life. P.S. No hostility intended.
@SlamifiedBuddafied9 жыл бұрын
ComatoseFly There is no point to the arithmetic, just simple stupidity in somewhat obscure gaming references. But yes, I imagine that synths would be attractive to any gamer's ear.

IMO, this is as good as Deadline if not better, it's definitely better than Visitors, this has a more elegant vibe to it, very good production.

All this merch, music, concept art, and trailer... yet no actual comic... what happend...!? YOU CAN'T JUST PRING A CONCEPT LIKE A SHARK MAN AND A SKELETON FIGHTING BIKERS/UNDEAD AND NOT EXPLAIN ANY STORY! HOW DID THIS TEAM COME TO BE?! HOW DID THEY GET LIKE THAT?! WHY ARE THEY FIGHTING?! someone at least give me the excuse as to why this never became a comic.

I feel like the answer is obvious. The skeleton began fighting the gang, because they kidnapped his little brother. To them he was to be a sacrifice, in order to regain their living bodies. Taking on a curse for the power to take over the city, they didn't realize it meant they could no longer enjoy the pleasures they'd once thrived on while living. No sex, no drugs, no taco bell... for them they'd do anything to change this. But when the leader and most powerful of the gang, found out it was his still living brother to be sacrificed, he turned on them and fought with all his might. But they were all undead and undying. So he was overpowered and locked away. Taking the brother of their former leader to sacrifice inside the ancient shark tank of destiny, they tossed him in screaming. But in that moment he realized his true power and path, becoming one with the sharks and obtaining all their knowledge, he burst free of his holding. Then running over his former captures to free his immured sibling. Smashing through the cage with his face, then giving the most epic highfive known throughout the galaxy, he unlocked his brothers hidden potential. Thus began the true story of Shark man and Skeleton.

50:36 - which level of Super Mario is this?
@weedfox30618 жыл бұрын
*John Carpenter's spooky castle of doom*, also known as level 6-66. It was cut from the original game (because it was 3spooky5nintendo) and will be included in Super Mario: The very lost levels

I believe it was actually a discontinued nintendo project (Which was finished later by a possessed man under the influence of the Necronomicon EX Mortis, possibly Ephemeral Rift) known as 'Mario Must Die'. Give it a look, the song deserves to be over it.

Too bad the skull and shark comic will never come out it seems. It would've been fantastic as a digital comic with this soundtrack

If you listen to Dan and Dave's podcast they've mentioned that it's definitely not dead and they're still working on it. Last I heard they rewrote the whole script or something.
