We never see who Peggy’s husband is so I think it is closer to the Harry Potter method where as long as you stay out of history’s way, things happen the way they always did without creating another timeline. Steve knows that the allies win WW II without him, so he can just stay out of the way and enjoy his life with Peggy with as few people knowing who he is as possible.

Here's another idea, i really never liked it when they made him so old, hear me out, one thing is this, Bucky at 100 looked the same as he was in the 40's, and Steve even though he was in the ice for 70 years, still looked young. I feel that maybe Steve has been around for far longer than what we think. Maybe returning the stones he and living with Peggy he went a few other places. And that's how he looks so old. I also really hope they "run time through him" to get him back to his younger self! :D

What the timeline he created by going back to be with Peggy is the Fantastic Four first steps timeline, that is how dramatic of a difference having Capitan America survive the ice would have been on the time line. Who could believe Steve Rogers would just sit around for the rest of World War II and everything else that happened during the mid 20th Century. That butterfly effect would definitely set the stage for the fantastic four or even the Xmen.

Why does that time theory work. I still go off that Cap lived in the 616 timeline. When the team go back to 2012, the same yoinger cap is there so two can exist at the same time. So he goes back to live his life woth Peggy because his alternate self is already doing all that stuff. The only difference his that his other version goes into the ice yet he goes home to live with Peggy. The main change would be when he comes out of the ice and Peggy would have live a life with him already. He knows where to go to hand shield over to Falcon because thats where he was when he left to return the stones so its a closed loop.

I don’t think McFeely and Markus are in a bad spot together, they recently wrote another Russo Brother film called The Electric State that’s coming out next year on Netflix. I don't side with the russo's explanation for steve's time travel at all. Steve is not an egotistical character, his job was to return the stones to NOT create any branches, so why would he then create a branch!?!? In Loki s1 the TVA explains the events of endgame were always "supposed to happen" which would explain why steve's time travel didn't cause a branch. And last but not least, if he would've travelled back to the sacred timeline via time travel, why would he not appear on the time machine? Why would he be sitting on that bench?
