Paws of War announced its successful holiday mission of rescuing the cat of a U.S. Air Force Sergeant who is stationed in the Middle East. U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Tracy’s Christmas wish was to have her cat, Walter, return home safely in time for the holidays. Paws of War’s War-Torn Pups and Cats rescue team worked diligently to save Walter from euthanasia and return him safely to the U.S. Walter just arrived and is currently being cared for at Paws of War’s HQ in Nesconset and will soon be reunited with TSgt. Tracy, who is preparing to return to the U.S. in the coming months.

TSgt. Tracy rescued Walter while on deployment and the two have developed an inseparable bond. Walter gives TSgt. Tracy something to look forward to each day and brought joy and happiness, which is rare for our heroes deployed overseas who face hardships every day. Walter, who is less than a year old, has captured the hearts of everyone on base with his gentle, friendly nature. He spends time with TSgt. Tracy and other soldiers, offering warmth and a sense of home, which is important, especially since the soldiers are far from their families.
Walter, who is smaller than other felines in the area and has scars from trying to compete for food, is often attacked by other animals and struggles to find safety. Walter was malnourished and afraid before being cared for and protected by TSgt. Tracy.
Walter’s companionship has been invaluable to TSgt. Tracy and all the other soldiers on base and they want to honor that bond by bringing him home where he will be cherished and protected.
TSgt. Tracy has served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and this is her second tour overseas.
