You have no idea what misogony is! I grew up in Algeria under the thumb of Islam. My own brother was killed by my own family for being gay. The Muslim world is misognistic. The west favors women.
@happynjoyousnfreeАй бұрын
@bunjijumper5345 I'm so sorry ❤️ I would never argue that the history of the west's treatment of women is comparable to the oppression and abuse in other parts of the world. I'm thankful it's gotten better here but yes of course it is and has been much worse elsewhere.

I am old enough to remember Nancy Dickerson and some others but Connie stood out! What a delightful interview. I was there for Watergate and laughed when the venerated journalist spoke about about having to stake out for stories. One time Helen Thomas was eavesdropping on my bf (who worked at the White House} and me while we rode on the Metro and I felt like a star. Great memories.

this is sooooo cool. I didn't have a tv growing up in the 80's, but I still knew Connie Chung. I wanted to be her in an "important people in history" school event, but I wasn't Asian, so I thought I couldn't. So I was Joan of Arc instead. I related to the feeling of wanting to be in male-dominated spaces and compete. I didn't even know anything about her, but I got a Joan of Arc feeling from seeing her speak briefly on the news.

Being Europian and living in Europe, I didn’t knew Connie Chung before. What an amazing and extraordinaire woman! And being my age in the middle of hers and Mayim, and my proffession when I began a very masculinized one I fully agree with them both about what’s “feminism”. Curiously, I’ve ended being the boss of a very masculinized big team with almost no women..but directed in a very feminine way. Another fabulous episode to watch and re-watch! Thank you!!!
@lancewalker2595Ай бұрын
How can a team be both "masculinized" and yet be "directed in a very feminine way"? What exactly do you mean by these terms? It is so often presumed by insecure women that what "masculine" means is misogyny and violence or something... which is hardly an accurate characterization of anything like a functional and productive social hierarchy. Do you imagine that the "masculine" standards are ubiquitously negative?
@marisamartinezoliveraАй бұрын
@@lancewalker2595 Masculinized meant that when I gwt the direction they came of a way of directing teams mostly of men and all men there. As I get the direction, I introduce more high proffessional women at the team, and directed them in very different way, as women use to do. Have a nice day.

Connie Chung, You are On my personal list of women I look up to in life as a strong woman. Thank you for being You ! I am the oldest of 9 kids. The oldest child, especially females, hold a very different position in the family dynamic compared to the younger children. I very often was told, "Well Aren't you the little Connie Chung."or "Do you think you are Barbra Walter's or something?" It was meant to be a slash at my self-esteem. However, over time I realized I was being compared to some really Strong, well spoken, in your face with the truth & hard hitting women. I don't think those are bad qualities.They are to be commended & revered. I was very aware of the things going on in the world around me growing up. And subsequently did not fit in with the girly girls around me. Or even the boys for that matter. I worked many years in my states Legislature in multiple positions. From Page, runner, information clerk, secretary, to Bills clerk. I was able to interact with some very interesting, influential people along multiple party lines. I was bless to meet my Biggest hero Sandra Day O'Conner & was not let down in any way in doing so. I have had many lovely conversations with people like Gabby Gifford in her early career. Incounters with Brewer (the squarpion queen), & the bee hived Rose Mofferd. As well as some very odd interactions with people like Sinama 😮. Someone I say to keep a look out for in higher branch of government in the future is Kimberly Yee, Az State Treasurer. PS Was A Blossom & Joey fan growing up too.

What a wonderful interview with Connie Chung - exactly, exactly, exactly - she says it all so wonderfully, this CBS news correspondent who I grew up admiring. And I just ordered 'Connie a memoir' on my eReader. Thank you so much, Connie, for just being who you were and are all these years of inspiring women like me, who've been climbing and falling and climbing again the shaky ladder of professionalism. In my case, it was years of being adjunct faculty in a world subjected to the hiring and firing power of the 'good ol' boys club' even into the 1980s and 1990s. And still to this day, but in a lesser degree of toleration.

I have always though Ms. Chung was just 🔥💫✨🌠 amazing. But realizing how TOUGH she became is just cool. That world back then looked brutal for anyone….but for a woman like Chung….that she didn’t go into work wearing literal head to toe body armor says so much. Always been intrigued by the rise of yellow journalism. First learned the term in high school, a mere eon ago, where it was used in reference to Theodore Roosevelt pulling the press's attention to his family life. If i recall correctly, they were entranced by his daughter. Sensationalism has been around for a long time and used as a political tactic to garner or destroy favor. From how Connie puts it, it seems like journalists took their power back for a time, but it's gone back to being a tool by the powerful to keep their power and direct the disempower's attention and energies toward matters of unimportance.
@ShineOnBenevolentSunАй бұрын
Neil Postman wrote a book in the 80s that nailed the demise of newsmedia, called 'Amusing Ourselves to Death.' The crux of the issue is that newsmedia ceased to be a loss -leader. It became competitive with streams of revenue instead of participating in good faith, in the social contract of giving some value in exchange for selling the viewers' eyeballs to advertisers. When the advertisers took control and began to determine what news sold, that's when the problems began.
