What I believe makes K content stand out from the USA: 1. Crying- K actors cry very well and easily, it’s believable. You can sometimes feel their emotions. 2. Scenes are not fully shown to the audience until later and then we see the connection or understand. Of course this may cause confusion or mystery but later it connects and you are like wow! 3. Dialogue- when 2 characters argue or talk, the audience is always exposed to Korean proverbs/expressions/sayings or interesting wisdom. 4. Generally speaking, I think Korea focuses more on story and the human condition/ psychology to write a good strong story that stirs up your emotions. In America we focused a lot on special effects, especially in the late 1990s -2000s, but the movies were terrible. 5. Actors- they are beautiful, eye catching, hard to stop looking at! 6. Originality- it’s hard to guess what will happen next and sometimes the unexpected happens. Then when you think you know, you really don’t know until the end! Betrayal, Revenge, love, sorrow - these themes are used very well in k dramas and film to make you not stop watching and feel sad/joy for the characters.

There are good content in many other parts of the world, but it is not generally promoted in platforms like Netflix or the actors are not good looking (they are more naturally looking), so people do not watch them or give them a chance.

@HistoricIndian Every country has their time. Perhaps the countries you're referring to will get their global recognition some day, provided that they have a competitive strategy to export their pop culture globally, which is not an easy thing to do. South Korea has done an incredible job exporting their culture via K-Pop and K-Dramas, and they deserve all the recognition and praise they get. Netflix is an American company and is gladly pouring billions of dollars into Korean content because most of their global subscribers watch Korean content. That says a lot. Bravo, South Korea!

Korea makes high quality content, while remaining conservative. I have not watched American shows for 6 years because they are always ''naked''.
