On newsmakers, we feature a man credited with revolutionizing a relatively new concept in this country, in such a monumental manner that Kenya is now the envy of the rest of the world. Almost from scratch, the man set up what is now the region's most profitable company, which also boasts of the globally acclaimed M-Pesa mobile money transfer service. Yes, we are talking about Michael Joseph, and the house he built, Safaricom Limited. Ten months after he passed on the Safaricom leadership baton to Bob Collymore, M.J, as he's still popularly known, speaks about his decision to quit as Safaricom CEO, why he recently resigned as chairman of the Kenya Tourism Board barely a year after his appointment, his role as a father and a husband, as well his love for dogs. Evelyn Wambui brings us Michael Joseph on this week's newsmakers.

I've always loved Mr. Joseph's train of thought. "Shortsighted but trying to find his way!"

Kudos! But did you do it alone Michael? Do callers/customers contribute to innovations like MPESA? Thank you

Like him, hate him, that's capitalism for u. The poor are ripped off by the rich. Anyway, I like this guy's corporate social responsibility practices. MPesa is always present in many development areas, sports etc.

The guy has an abrassive personality, so I can understand many not liking him. Still, you do have to respect his succes. The guy is a classic entrepreneur, not a public servant. I wish him succsess in his jump to World bank - something more suited to his skills. On a different note, is the daughter single?
