After the magical Christmas - Czech Vánoce and the New Year - Czech Silvestra, the year 2024 has arrived.
For our town it started with good news.
This year the first issue of our town newspaper - Zpravodaj města Mariánské Lázně - was published. Reporter of Mariánské Lázně.
From it we learnt a lot of new and interesting things that will happen in our town.
We invite you to take a walk around the town with us. We will share with you news from the Reporter and our other sources.
We will tell you about the Singing Fountain, the colonnade, the Kavkaz Hotel, the former children's sanatorium Miramonte, the Aura Hotel, the house near the theatre, the Palace Europe complex, the Forest Mill Hotel and the future Savoy Hotel.
There will be a complete reconstruction of the Colour Fountain, which is popular among the guests of our city.
From it we learnt that this year the Singing Fountain will be completely reconstructed. This is a very expensive project, more than 38 million crowns. "There will be a complete replacement of the water distribution, electrical and lighting. Then softening, disinfection, water purification and composition programming systems will be installed." City officials expect the work to last until the next holiday season. The hardwood floors on our beloved Colonnade will be replaced. In their place will be a mosaic granite floor. They promise that it will be very beautiful. The long-awaited renovation of the facade of the best and most famous hotel in the past, the Caucasus Hotel, formerly the Weimar, is planned for this year.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Mariánské Lázně - Miramonte has finally changed its owner.
In 1905, a country café with a restaurant and a dance hall was built above Zeerova Street, where many spa guests came to enjoy the clean air of the forest and the nature.
Impressed by the high attendance, the owners ordered the reconstruction of the building in 1920 and Miramonte was turned into a luxury hotel. A further 7 years later, another floor was added.
During the First Republic, Miramonte was visited by an Arab sheikh and his harem, who occupied the entire building.
In 1960 the building was handed over to the spa, which opened a children's sanatorium. In 1975-1978, the last comprehensive reconstruction of the building and the whole area of Miramonte was carried out. The children's sanatorium operated until 30 November 2006.
For unknown reasons, the spa, the joint-stock company "Mariánské Lázně Spa", now Danibius. In October 2008, the building was sold allegedly for 60 million crowns. A well-known Kazakh entrepreneur became the owner
He planned to bring back the former glory and beauty of Miramonte again by turning it into a luxury four-star hotel. A luxury project was commissioned. We highlighted it. Impressive.
But, the project was not to be. The territorial office of the National Heritage Institute in Loket stood in the way and refused to approve the renovation project. In addition, the investors failed to obtain a residence permit in the Czech Republic, without which, of course, no investment and reconstruction is possible. After that the owners put the building up for sale and built a luxury hotel in more accommodating Switzerland. Miramonte was for sale all the 15 years we lived here and gradually deteriorated. And only on 20 December 2023, on Christmas Eve, when miracles are supposed to happen, it was bought by a Czech investor, the Prague-based company Miramonte invest. I am sure that all residents and fans of Mariánské Lázně wish him good luck in this project.
In autumn, the long-suffering Hotel Aura started to receive guests. Its owner, an Azerbaijani businessman from Baku, has been reconstructing a group of buildings on the corner of Russkaya Street and Main Avenue for many years. And we are very happy that he managed to successfully complete this reconstruction.
Finally, a previously beautiful building located next to the city theatre has been put up for sale and we hope it will find a new bona fide owner and investor.
Italian businessmen Alessandro and Aldo Garzotto own this dilapidated building through FINVIM s.r.o.. They also own the Continental Hotel, Residence Romansa, Central Park Marienbad apartments and four hotels in Prague.
We are cautiously optimistic that some movement has started in the Europa complex after a long hiatus. These buildings are owned by Azerbaijani investors through Grathon Business and Carimond Invest a.s. companies. The construction of a multifunctional centre with a hotel, residential residences, restaurants and shops was planned here. Reconstruction, restoration and restoration of the famous Lesnoy mlin hotel, which was built in the recent past, is continuing successfully. The owners and investors are a Czech family company. To our great regret, the construction of the four-star hotel Savoj on Třebízského Street has been frozen. The owners are Bulgarian investors through the Karlovy Vary company Delta Vita s.r.o..
