In January’s News Wrap video NCE takes a look at the latest HS2 and Hammersmith Bridge news, along with developments for a proposed coal mine in Cumbria and the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C nuclear projects.
We also reflect on Crossrail, with former chief engineer Chris Dulake sharing his thoughts on the project’s delayed programme.
In other news Lower Thames Crossing executive director Matt Palmer tells NCE news editor Catherine Moore that he is "confident" the proposed National Highways project will be given the go ahead because of the "obvious" need to ease congestion on the Dartford Crossing.

Shouldn't that be a 180? A 360 would mean they were back where they started!

360 is correct. The speaker was recommending a "360 degree survey" in order to obtain confidential feedback on lessons learned. It's an everyday tool.

After years of closure they have finally found the perfect excuse to not reopen Hammersmith Bridge… it’s those pesky Russians again!

Turning 360 degrees means you’re back facing the same direction. Let’s hope he meant 180 degrees.

Lower Thames crossing , any chance on getting started. Years of talk , brochures, consulting rabbits. Everything in this country is catch up. Be good for once to be in front of a problem. Proactive not reactive.

Despite her commendable clarity and despite knowing that she hasn't just seen her whole production team run over by a number eleven bus, I can't get an answer to why she chooses to deliver such interesting and exciting news so soporifically and sounding completely depressed by the thing. Even speeding up the frame rate to 1¼ normal speed can't overcome her torpor. I'm sure that she's a lovely lady: hard working, conscientious and a team player but for goodness sake, someone stick a rocket up where the sun don't shine please. Guaranteed to benefit the viewers, editorial staff and all with whom she comes into contact.

@@JP_TaVeryMuchI agree the content of this video is both interesting and important, but It's often the case that younger generations are poor speakers or have inadequate presentation skills to deliver it well. It is a skill to do this but developing this skill has declined in recent decades. This seems to be a peculiar problem of the British. In other countries such as the USA, presentation skills are more emphasised in early years education. The British have always been inadequate at this, mainly due to poor standards in state education. But even in private education it's not great either. It is so ironic that, given the English are the progenitor and guardians of the English language, it's more often left to other nations to deliver it in a more effective manner.
