This is awesome. My 6th great grandfather Thomas Smith died fighting in the revolutionary war. These heroes can never be forgotten

The Brits even sent a detachment of RRS soldiers to handle the remains of the Highlander Soldier

CEO of the South Carolina battleground trust Doug Bostick has stated in a separate video that two of the remains were identified to be as young as 14-16 years old.

Such a shame that these 14 soldiers didn't live to full life for the time period.

My respect to the British Red Coat that fought on behalf of his king and country. However, as a staunch Constitutional Republican, I'm glad our Patriots won. In fact, my 8th generation Paternal Great Grandfather fought under Layfette after immigrating from France in the mid 1700's. He settled in Floyd County, Virginia and married a Cherokee Maiden. My father was a Combat Veteran with the US Army Air Force in the South Pacific Campaign in WWII as a Flightline Engineer and Mechanic on the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. God Bless the United States Of America and God Bless the United Kingdom!! See Forces TV for the British part of this ceremony.

Nice! yh i’m glad too, otherwise the US wouldn’t have the freedoms it has today, esp the best free speech laws, although that’s slowly being eroded sadly.

Its okay to be glad we won, but it’s important to understand that those British men who fell here would missed just as much by their families across the pond. War is ugly but it’s important to retain respect for both your adversaries, and more importantly respect for the dead, otherwise we are no different that two tribes of gorillas beating each other to death somewhere in the rainforests of the Congo. Showing Respect for the dead speaks volumes about the moral integrity of those who fought/are fighting. I’ve always seen it as very admirable when commanders of old made a point to bury the enemy dead if possible, It’s a sign of respect even your enemies can’t go without recognizing. To simply pick up a gun in defense of your countrymen is an act of bravery that ought to be recognized and respected, and that should be enough to see to it that they entitled to a proper burial nonetheless.

@@ryv2484 irony of the revolutionary war is that it wasn’t even american born vs uk born, it was a mix, you had american born loyalists and uk born pro independence ppl, look at thomas paine, was only in america for a few years and was motivating ppl for independence lol then you had ppl like the Massachusetts bay governor born in boston who was against independence… very weird time back then

@@Armed-Forever i was thinking about this the other day. It was just long enough ago that we can never really have the full picture of what politics were like back in the day, what the talk of the land was, what rumors about people we’ve seen in our books might have been making their rounds, etc. We can do our best to piece together a pretty vivid picture, but I feel like we will never have the full one. Makes me wish time travel were possible!

The British soldier wasn’t just any soldier. He was a Scottish Highlander, Britain’s elite and they were used as shock troops due to their ferocity in combat. Even to this day. The battle of Waterloo was even won by them breaking the French lines and bayonet charging. Not to be messed around with

No matter what side your fighting for in a war. every soldier deserves to be brought back home. and laid to rest and not laying where they were killed. Maybe now they will finally have peace. Amen🙏🕊️💐. from 🇬🇧 an old cockney gal.

It seems like a miracle of God that our nation survived 2 wars against the empire of Great Britain. Perhaps another miracle that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States of America are strong allies for many years. Long live the King
@Pikkabuu
@Pikkabuu Жыл бұрын
Not really a miracle. Britain had just fought the Seven Years War and was tired and short of money and was fighting a war across the Atlantic against an enemy who simply refused to give up and the British couldn't reach the heartlands of the enemy to really defeat them. Now add in foreign powers sending help and especially money to beat the British in a Proxy War and you can easily figure out why the Colonists were able to win. And the War of 1812 wasn't even a real war for the British, nor did they plan to even control the USA. They had a far bigger problem with Napoleon at hands.

@2:03 you talk about "gaining freedom from the United Kingdom". It wasn't the UK, it was Great Britain. It became the UK when Ireland joined in 1801.

UK, Great Britain, England, Scotland, whales, Northern Ireland, Ireland gets lumped in sometimes, the common wealth, all with differing time lines and reintroductions it’s just all too much 😂😂 and that just scratches the surface! I don’t blame other countries for butchering it all the time 😂😂

It's good South Carolina still can honor the sacrifice of soldiers for the independence of the nation. The Van Wick Homestead in NY is alleged to contain the largest graveyard of the American Revolution. Supposedly people are trying commercially develop the property.
