Major General Viktor Nazarov, who was Zaluzhnyi's advisor and consultant at the time, said this in an interview with the BBC. The general recalled Valeriy Zaluzhnyi's plans when assessing the success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in August 2024. He noted that this operation was not unique. ‘How did the idea for this offensive come about? Back when Zaluzhnyi was in office, in December 2022, at one of the meetings I attended in the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine office, we prepared such proposals and I personally participated in them,’ Viktor Nazarov said.
