Die Stem: Mixed thoughts and opinions

I grew up with "The Call of South Africa", as a musician I still consider it one of the best melodies ever composed. A poem suitable for singing. The lyrics of the (most important) first part, are a pure description of the land beauties and has nothing to do with politics and political changes. Overcome is a must. Even Russians have recognized the musical value of the Soviet anthem. Words can change, but I still believe that the first part joins every african heart.

Take it out of the current "incy wincy spider" circus song. "Die Stem" is a song, sung by a proud successful nation. It does not belong in "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" representing a collapse of the economy, corruption, greed, destruction and hate.
